Fruited cake + non-fruited cake = ?
    #5881000 - 07/20/06 10:56 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

I have 1 jar of PE that is done colonizing which 2 more following it but won't be done for another week or so.. my question is, if i fruit the one cake could i use it in a casing with a cake that hasn't been fruited yet or will this mess up the whole pinning timing of the other cake?

no either fruit the cake the way it is or wait for the other jars
to catch up before birthing.

Yes. Use fresh spawn for going to bulk. Mycelium that has already fruited and dropped spores tends to lay down and give up, much like a salmon after spawning. Some guys have had limited success and managed to get a few fruits, but you'll never see a monster flush from using spent substrate to spawn more substrate. Not recommended.

if you crumble a cake after its flushed, its not going to recover well.  you'll be majorly wasting whatever is left in it yield-wise.  you'll also be "thinning" out your fresh healthy cakes by mixing in these lazy slow moving chunks, resulting in poor performance from them too.  its a lose-lose situation.

refrigerate it until the others are ready and do it all at once, or fruit it and forget about it and deal with the others when their time comes.

you can always wait an extra week until the rest are ready.
