Small name jam bands

Well, the pub is dead tonight so I figured I'd make a random post.
I'm not a huge fan of jam bands. The only jam bands I've found that I like have been bands from my state (Georgia).
These are the two jam bands I dig right now: -Perpetual Groove -Keller Williams
What are yours? Do you have any similar bands to reccomend?

That's his latest. To be honest, I'm not sure he's from GA. But the only people I know that listen to him are from GA.

I've heard plenty of Keller Williams shit and I live up in Cali. I wouldn't exactly call him a jam band though. I've also heard some Perpetual Groove.

Keller Williams is a one man band and he's from Fredricksburg, Virginia... get it right people. And you didn't even mention Widespread and you're from GA.

P Groove = ownage. I saw a show of theirs. It was amazing.
They're not a jam band in the traditional sense, but a jam band in my mind. Wonderful music.
I only drank at their show, but I could imagine how awesome it'd be on any other substance. The lights were amazing.

I had no clue on Keller. I'm not a huge Widespread fan, but they're pretty good.

i like both keller and p groove. I havent seen p groover yet but, i've seen keller several times and he puts on a great show everytime.
as far as widespread goes- i thought they where just ok for a long untill i saw them live in berkley while visiting a friend. The show was absolutly incredible. everyone there was goin crazy. I havent seen widespread in the same light every since.
some bands must be seen live to really "get it"

here's a duo from raleigh. it's just drums and keys, but these guys don't really need anyone else in the band. they are some funky motherfuckers.
here's one song..it may be a bit too long, i'm not sure. check out their site though if you want more. http://www.mayhap.net/multimedia.htm

You put Keller Williams under small name? Ok then, I will add moe to that, even though they aren't small name.

Seconded. I listened to two full eH shows today. Hookah was my favorite still-together band up until their little hiatus and lineup changeup. I'm still not sure I can get as into the band without Ed and his songs.
You midwest folks check out Covert Operations! They'll be playing in Chicago very, very soon. Up and coming-- they've got a great sound and are a great group of guys...they won a contest for last year's 10,000 Lakes Festival and played there opposite WsP. Listen to any of their numereous originals, or definately listen to their arrangement of Sugaree.
Covert Operations Myspace Covert Operations Homepage They're also on archive.org, only 9 shows at least a year old though. I'll have to harass them about that...
(though they haven't uploaded anything in a while...if you like what you hear, the band has improved by leaps and bounds over what's there!)

The term jam band is commonly used to describe psychedelic rock-influenced bands whose concerts largely consist of bands reinterpreting their songs as springboards into extended improvisational pieces of music. The term less describes a set genre of music than it does provide a label for vastly different bands for whom the only link to each other is this improvisation.
Hence, "jam" band.
EDIT:toast, hookah's home base fests are 20 miles from my house, they are always headlining fests.

Yes, to all of those and P-Groove and Keller.
I heard a small band about a year and a half ago called Signal Path that was really good, but I have yet to get a disc of their stuff. Archive.org has some of their shows, too. I just don't have a disc burner, so I only burn stuff at friends' houses.

Alright, I give up trying to get UBB to parse this into a link:
http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=etree&field=%2Fmetadata%2Fcreator
Copy and paste that into your browser and goto Ekoostik Hookah. There you'll find 162 complete live shows available for download and\or stream in a variety of formats, courtesy of archive.org!
I also have many videos of the band released by Yurple Bliss I'd be happy to send you. I currently have only 1 full show on DVD (3-9-04) that I'd be willing to send you too, if you like. Shoot a PM my way if you're interested.

Lucky you! I've seen the band many, many, many a time and always take opportunities like this to spread their good name. I got into them well after Mullin's had left and didn't even hear of him until just last year. I'm not in Ohio and it makes me sad that they've hardly left the state in the past year. I drive out for Hookahville, but most anything else is too expensive for me

Haha, now signal path is a small name jam band. I saw them at the other side on halloween, not sure if you were at that show, but there was ALOT of weirdness going around that night, twas great.
Anyway, everyone else is mostly naming big name jam bands, and if your going to mention the big ones, dont leave out:
String Cheese Incodent Moe. Robert Randolf & the family band Rusted Root O.A.R. Acustic Syndicate

Ah man, I'm all over this thread. One Under is led by Ed McGee, formerly of Ekoostik Hookah and also features Johnny Polansky aka Starcatt, also formerly of Ekoostik Hookah, on percussion (big guy with big dreadlocks). If you dug One Under, you'll probably find the schwa-H to be pleasing too. Just get some shows from the link I dropped from before, I dunno, april of this year and Ed will be leading half the songs.
I also have some video that I shot of an entire OU set from earlier this year if you'd like me to send it to you. PM me. It's the one that One Under is (was?) hosting on their myspace page.

I don't know how much I'd consider O.A.R a jam band compared to the others you listed. They're a bit poppy and I can only think of 2 songs that have a sound that really gets me up n going.
Robert Randolf is fucking amazing. You know he learned to play slide guitar in church!
