Worried about friend...help!
    #5879819 - 07/19/06 11:57 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

2 days ago my girlfriend tried LSD...the day after she felt heavy and had hot flashes and a sore throat...now she is shaking ALOT and is always feeling cold. she is also having MAJOR anxiety and panic attacks about everything, it feels like shes going insane. her throat is so swollen she can barely breathe...could this be due to the acid that she took 2 days ago?

Ask her more about what she did. Did she go through a bad trip? A rare effect that can remain after a trip is depression that can continue for a month i believe?

The throat part sounds like an alergic reaction to something... I do not think it's due to the lsd.

I have panic attacks alot.. they are terrifying.. the best thing you can do is to help her regulate her breathing.. tell her its OK, and tell her what is happening.. you need to help her dis associate herself from what is happening.. try to help her breathe in deep all the way to her stomach

Do you know if her family has any mental disorders? LSD can bring that back up.

http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/faqs/psychedelic_experience_faq.shtml

That page has post trip effects so you can maybe try to understand what she's going through.

It is possible that its an allergic reaction but unlikely. If she is having a severe panic attack it can induce shaking. But if she cant breathe due that would induce a panic attack.. If her throat is swollen to the point she isn't able to talk and breathe regularly you need to take her to the hospital.. she might be having a reaction to food.. i.e. shell fish, peanuts, nuts, did she eat anything different??

WOW. I don't think that it is all because of a panic attack. I know for me the reason mine are triggered is when I am not able to breathe correctly.. Sounds like she is having a break down.. Try to determine if the throat problem is because of something physical (i.e. she ate something) or if she is gasping for air because of a mental issue. when i have my panic attacks i sound like i have asthma. But if she is able to talk then it doesn't sound like a swelling from an allergic reaction. Are you familiar with lymph nodes? they are right below your lower jaw.

http://face-and-emotion.com/dataface/anatomy/lymph.jsp

check if these are swollen, that would mean its allergic : )

Chinese food can sometimes contain peanut oil, or something like that.

Has she been like this since the trip?

You should take her to the hospital or to get some help if you think its serious.

i really dont think it was from something she ate...she ate hot pockets yesterday and chinese food today. i think its her mental issues making her sick, but they seem like 100x worse right now, and its just weird how all this was right after she took acid...im thinking its a side effect of that cuz ive never seen anything like this with her. but im wrong you guys think?

If she had mental problems, then yes it probably made them worse...

Some rare side effects are anxiety and various things like that.

Chinese food has all kinds of spices that can cause an allergic reaction, BUT if she has ate it before its unlikely to be it. If she cannot breathe and looks like she is having real problems (psychosis) the best thing you can do for her is to take her to the hospital. They have drugs to give her through and IV that can help her. I know it sounds bad, but realize this, whatever she is going though is not fun for her. IF you are in over your head it's OK to get help. IF you think her life is in danger you need to take her to the hospital. If you are considering it you should be doing it.. Follow your gut instinct. If she was fine after and it took 2 days, its probably a psychological issue.

Yes it is likely that the acid trigger something. LSD expands your thoughts... Opens your mind.. this is dangerous to someone with mental disorders. I personally, dint trip. I have had sever anxiety problems in the past and because of that have chosen not to trip (i just like to grow mush's cause they're fun and challenging). But if she has taken LSD she can be having issues deciphering reality from the "other world" you would be seeing/ experiencing. She could have had a "mental breakthrough" like i like to call it when i have them from doing other drugs. Its a moment of "realization or enlightenment" that can occur. If she had that she could have thrown herself into a temporary psychosis. Remember though this is our opinions.. we can be wrong. I would suggest Professional MEDICAL help if she is unable to CLEARLY Thing or Talk to you!

The acid most likely triggered laden schitzophrenia and anxiety.. Or at least that is what it sounds like.. Get her some valium or xanax ASAP

Take your friend to a Hospital, or doctor asap. Throat closing, and other physical reactions require imediate attention. She might need help with the psycological stuff to. Def a  :syringe: of benzos.

The acid could not have triggered the swelling through, but the psychotic episodes definately! It is a strong hallucinogen.

Do the right thing.

It sounds like she is having psychotic problems from the lsd that can go up to a month or less.

Yes valium or Xanax would help if thats what it is.. But I would be leary of giving her any med's unless you know how she reacts to them.. Different meds can have different reactions. If she has anxiety she should have meds already what is she on?

she has seemed to calm down right now (thank god) i gave her some tea, and shes laying down now. do you think the health problems that shes having (fever, severe sore throat, heaviness of body, aching etc) may be caused by her mental issues though?...maybe its making her sicker when she has these anxiety problems?

You and her should share some beer and smoke a bowl and watch an Adam Sandler movie... I know it sounds stupid, but it really works to change the mental set of your mind. . . and is very good at calming people. If you can get some benzos (muscle relaxers like alprazolam(xanax) or cyclobenzaprine) those will help tremendously.

she actually went in to get meds today and they fucked it up some how so she was unable to get them. so as of now and for a while she has not been medicated.

as for medicine she has took she has only had throat spray and ibprofen...nothing like valium or vicoden, even though i think those would help ALOT right now.

Maybe it wasnt LSD but some DOx compound.Hence her feeling the effects nearly 2 days later. She would not be tripping 24+ hours later but would still be prone to thought loops, panicky thinking, paranoia and all that other good stuff that can make your mind run wild if you are not prepaired.

How long did it take for the effects of the drug to be noticed?

Probably not the cause, just a thought.

when the human body is under a lot of mental stress (high amounts of anxiety), it causes the physical manifestation of symptoms such as fever, aches, seizures, and ulcers. . it's very possible - but it sounds more to me like she was coming down with some virus when she tripped, and in conjunction with the LSD it made it very unbearable - both mentally and physically.

Yea. I suggest if this is a girl you want to keep around you should do some reading up on mental disorders such as panic attacks, and there affects on daily life for those that suffer from them.
http://ezinearticles.com/?5-Tips-to-Dealing-With-a-Severe-Anxiety-Disorder&id=111238
It is best to know how to react and help. Remember these episodes are extremely embarrassing for people.. So be kind. Sometimes something like Tylenol pm or something might help her sleep but keep an eye on her. If she sleeps she can go into terrible night terrors if she is still in psychosis ... Best of luck.

RC is a research chemical.

DOx compounds are research chemicals.

DOC,DOI,DOB ect..

From how long it took for your friend to feel effects I would say she took DOC.

Was it bitter?Besides the sugary taste from the cubes of course.

Tell her she is fine and that she will be ok and its just the lasting effects from the drug.Tell her to take a shower and read a book.Or something else to keep her mind busy.

Has she slept at all?

If the physical symptoms are still occuring after you get her calmed down, take her to the ER and dont lie about the drug use.

Warm bath, Clean clothes, some soup or tea (no coffe or caffine), relaxing music or tv show.. animal planet maybe?, cuddle up by her, and play with her hair. anything you can do to help her feel comforted

alright so DOC won't harm her for the most part right? besides whats happening now of course. she has gotten 7hrs of sleep last night and cant really sleep right now because shes extremly uncomfortable.

she said the taste was a bit bitter, and a little sour.

is there a place where i can look up more facts on this DOC drug...is this stuff just cheaper than lsd or something...?

  she also wants to know what acid usually tastes like...is it even have a taste?

These are good suggestions.

To me it sounds liek she is still feeling effects from the drug. This is a for sure thing if she hasnt slept..

Get her a xanax and a bed if she hasnt been to sleep yet.

The best thing you can do for her is not freak out.Stay calm and keep her calm.Reassure her that she is going to be fine.Tell her to take deep breaths from the stomach not the chest.Deep breaths in and out slowly in a fluid motion.

and tell her to smile!

Warm bath, Clean clothes, some soup or tea (no coffe or caffine), relaxing music or tv show.. animal planet maybe?, cuddle up by her, and play with her hair. anything you can do to help her feel comforted

But yes, stress can cause all of those problems to your body think about it you mind controls everything in your body... I have had panic attacks make me vomit and have hot flashes, vivd daydreams,, you name it. it fucks with your head!!

alright so DOC won't harm her for the most part right? besides whats happening now of course. she has gotten 7hrs of sleep last night and cant really sleep right now because shes extremly uncomfortable.

she said the taste was a bit bitter, and a little sour.

is there a place where i can look up more facts on this DOC drug...is this stuff just cheaper than lsd or something...?

  she also wants to know what acid usually tastes like...is it even have a taste?

DOC is relatively safe.As long as she didnt over dose.

And she didnt or you would have known a few hours after ingesting the chemical.

DOC is legal, cheap and has a small enough dose to fit on one or 2 blotters or a few drops of liquid.

Now that you say it was bitter I am 100% sure it was DOxx probably DOC.

Like I said, reassure her she will be fine. Its the drug making her nervous. The mind is powerfull,we control our reality so anything she thinks may be happening to her can be physicaly manifested.

Deep breaths!

Another reason why they should make LSD legal so we don't get a more harmful substance!

Yep he is right.. That's exactly what helps me.. Help control her breathing (deep breathes from the tummy) and help her dis associate from the Anxiety. Tell her she's incontrol and she can breathe.. Dis associateing is key thats the only thing that pulls me through.. Thank god for my better half he always helps me get through it quicker:)
Helping her get comfy is key too  the hair thing works wonders! trust me!

Acid doesn't really have a taste... at least definitely not that noticable.

I recently had some cubes that tasted like DO* something... took a cube, took about 3 hours to kick in... minor dilation of pupils, slight auditory hallucinations and a weird, yet slight, body buzz. it's possible I had what she had - 'cos I did notice some slight anxious behavior the next day. From the midwest by chance?

I have used DOC twice. And other DOx compound numerous times.

It is not sold in any store it must be ordered from overseas chemist usually.

It is commonly sold as LSD.Some people dont know what they are selling, some people do.LSD has no taste as I said in the pm I sent you a minute ago.

I owuld warn the guy you got it from that it isnt LSD.

Is your friend doing any better? The key is understand that she will be fine.Take our advice about the breathing and the mind set.

Midwest? I believe you are refering to sugar cubes  They are watered down. But if they are what I am thinking then they definitly aren't LSD. There is a chance I could be wrong.. A few friends have taken these.. and in numbers at that (with out problem) but that doesnt mean it couldnt harm her.. Let me know how it all works out  ~*~I am still worried!

The swollen throat bothers me, keep an eye on that.
It can close up preventing breathing.

Is this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4-chloro-2%2C5-dimethoxyamphetamine the right chemical. Its noted as DOC on wikipedia but Erowid notes DOC as 2,5-dimethoxy-4-chloroamphetamine.

if you haven't told her already, you should tell her the reason its been so long is because it wasn't acid. although it may be difficult to figure out the exact chemical, there are a couple that can last that long and fit the profile of taking 2 hours or so to begin.
also make sure to reassure her that she'll be okay shortly, i'm not aware of anything that would last more than 2 days. everything after that will be a gradual decline/re-adjusting.

i would defintely not give her more drugs or alchohol (no benzo's or anything) especially not if she's having trouble breathing or having psychotic episodes. anything you give her COULD make either of those two things worse.

i would advise to give her as much nutritionally sound food as she'll eat, and lots of juice and tea and stuff.

if she is fairly calm i'd recommend watching lots of TV, as that'll mellow someone out pretty easy. if she's having trouble paying attention, constantly walking around alot can help a person use up that excess trippy energy while getting back to normal.

i'm pretty sure psychedelics CAN cause fever/sore throat and all that. especially the RCs.

I see now that 4-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxyamphetamine is the same as 2,5-dimethoxy-4-chloroamphetamine.

She may jsut have gotten sick and the trip has nothing to do with it. I would take her to the hospital, cause if she has strep throat or something and you leave it for too long, it can then infect the blood and kill her. So yea, go to a doctor.

Dude, this is probably a mix of after-effects from the DOC and she got some kind of cold virus at the same time. Take her to the hospital so they can help her..
The throat, the cold feeling and the shivering are clear symptoms of a viral infection.

ps: put on a termometer in her armpit, if she has a viral infection it will be over 36.5C... Possibly around 38-39 given the symptoms you said.

Wow man, I'm glad things are finally turning out better . . . I hate assholes who pass RCs off as acid.  Just like folks said, sounds like she took some weird-o drug, and then had tonsillitis at the same time.  Drugs and sickness don't mix :frown:
