what i'm working on...

Let's start with the bad: 4 jars of the green stuff, contamed by dirty spore printing process or spore to syringe process
The good: 4 jars of the china white from my other spore print Jars were BRF+Vermiculite+Coffee grounds (not mixed in the water, just added dry)
The best: 1 jar of the thick, quick, white stuff inoculated with mycelium from an LC
The other: 2 jars WBS inoculated with LC...i don't know what's up with these two...i shook once at the appropriate time, then again after a week or two when i saw that only the top was colonizing again (put jars upside down after first shake too)
Anyways, thanks for looking, questions, comments, and chit-chat welcomed.

yeah.. Losing to mold sucks.. I just lost 2 35lb casings to it.. The only bit of advice I have is maybe to check the jars more frequent.. B/c that's quite a bit of mean Green on there the quicker you remove the contamed jars the less chance of it spreading..
But man i know it sucks

i decided to birth that one mycelium innoc. jar today. the results were...interesting
in this first picture you can see that the mycelium was actually crawling its way out of the jar through the innoc. holes! the green looking stuff in the middle is acutally just rust, not contamns sporulating (and yeah i know my lid is lookin nasty).
this next shot is the same cake and it seems to be exibiting some marshmellow like growth around the edges...in fact the whole cake looks like a big marshmellow.
this marshmellow may be the result of using coffee grounds mixed right in (not added to water) or maybe not, either way, i lauged when i saw the mycelium trying to escape...who knows how far it would have gotten if not birthed!
also, three cheers for coffee cakes!

You'll learn the hard way to throw away any jar with green as soon as you discover it. Chances are, the millions of green mold spores that are escaping those jars are going to contaminate the jars stacked right next to them. There's a limit to how much a verm barrier or filter can protect you. Even if it's 99.99% effective, it will still allow .001% of the contaminants either in or out. with trillions of green spores showing there, that's a lot of contaminants to be releasing into your room just for a picture. Toss those jars without opening, or PC for a couple of hours first if you wish to save the jars themselves.
Often the 'marshmellow' look is bacteria contamination. If the cake smells like anything but fresh mushrooms, toss it out too, or bury in your garden soil outdoors. RR
