My couch is covered in mold.

We had to store our couch in the damp garage for a few days. We brought it up and noticed it was smelling. After taking off the slip cover we have noticed that our couch has mold on it...
Anyway... anyone heard good things about this site?

I guess this is a pretty stupid thread. However, moldy couches are funny.

That sucks, leave it outside for a few days and clean it up, I dont know what other advice I could give you, I never had to deal with that before.

Isolate the couch in its own fruiting chamber, away from your op. If the mycelium does not beat the mold, there's nothing wrong with tossing it.
Better safe than sorry.

That exact same thing happened to my parents. We sprayed the couch down with some Lysol (which kills everything) and used a carpet cleaner to clean the fabric. Doesn't smell anymore, is mold free, and is sitting in front of my fish tank for my guests to sit on.
I'd imagine that the mold is just on the upholstery. People shed skin cells on couches. Most couches are made of synthetic fabrics now. Skin cells would be mainly on the surface of the couch, which is most likely what the mold(fungus) is feeding on. Lysol + carpet cleaner = couch is back to normal.
