Made it just past Oklahoma City. I have opted (or pussied) out of camping because its too damn hot and muggy, and I don't mind paying $40-$50 for a motel with internet, A/C, a shower, and a bed. My perception of Oklahoma thus far...
Pros: -75mph speed limits, saw one cop in 290 miles. -Gas is cheaper than in Missouri (that is a god awful state, btw, at least to drive through) -GORGEOUS sunset today
Cons: -it is fucking HOT as HELL ... I normally drive down the highway with the windows down to avoid using A/C and wasting gas, but holy shit... it was so hot I couldn't even do that. Today it was like being in a sauna in Oklahoma... I wonder if its always this hot during the summer? Insta-sweat the moment I stepped outside my car to pump gas or whatever. -Ozone alert - WTF is that about? is there excess ozone in the air, or is there a hole in the ozone or whats going on? -trucks plague the highways (this is not just OK though, its been like that from Ohio all the way out) ... they're big and slow, they take 15 minutes to pass anything and you have to wait behind them going 55 when the speed limit is 75, and they're ugly to look at.
Next stop: Grand Canyon.

Hey have fun on your vacation/drive..I wish I had the cash to go on a road trip. But take care of your vehicle, dont want to have problems in the heat. It has been hot all around the country lately, it was 104 degrees the last few days here in Northern Utah. I am happy to have A/C. It is nice to be cool inside having a few beers. It was blowing earlier though today, almost looked like it was going to rain here, but it was nice going outside with cool winds instead of the unbearable heat.

I don't blame you for not wanting to camp in this crazy heat.
Spent a good 3 hours on the road toady myself - the roads that I drove on mostly weren't highways. More like long strips of endless stores, gas stations, neighborhoods, etc... with traffic lights coming up every 30 seconds. Stopping was like being baked alive. I don't have working a/c in my car or house.
Grand canyon sounds fun, good luck with that.

Yeah, luckily my vehicle is only a couple years old, just got new tires, everything should be set. This is no vacation/road trip btw, this is manifest destiny. I'm moving to the west coast to become a rockstar.
It's funny you say that though because a little while ago I was thinking THANK GOD I don't have to drive BACK at the end of this. I think I counted 5000 some odd cornfields, and twice as many big rigs.

Must be nice, I don't think I've ever owned a car newer than 95. Right now I have a 79, lol. I wouldn't want to go very far in it. That sucks because I want to be able to go to more gatherings, it's just that I don't trust the thing.

another Pro I didn't realize until just now: I get to sleep an extra hour (and much needed) But Oklahoma doesn't deserve credit for that.

It is nice. Too bad some bitch had to wreck my old car in order for it to turn out that way. Car payments suck too.
