Sweet. I was bummed to see the post about Smokey's death. He was a groovy looking rabbit. I like the color of the new fella though. Looks almost like the same coloration of my Grandmothers last Siamese cat.
Just make sure to keep the new guy away from your cats! Oh, and whats his name?

very cute bunny, beautiful markings. looks like he rolled around in soot or something. i have one like that, but he grey parts are not as dark, and he has blue eyes. good choice in rabbit though!
still kinda young by the looks of it. if you need any advice as far as nutrion and what to feed it, exercise, etc, just ask and i'll gladly help.
he should exercise at least 2 hours a day. you can bunny proof your house and litter box train him so he can be a spoiled inside bunny. <3

Oh, and whats his name?
No name as of yet, as I'm not even sure what sex it is! The guy at the pet store didn't know, and it's still a litle too skittish to be holding on to so I can't figure out the sex just yet.
Any name suggestions?

i can help with figuring out the sex as well.
he doesn't look old enough to have testicles yet, so you'll have to check the hard way, and he might not even let you check.

Sloth do you recommend I get it spayed/neutered? All the sites I've been reading say it's a great idea but I hadn't even heard about getting rabbits fixed before!
What do you think the cost on something like that would be? When should I get it done?

you'll have to cradle him/her like a baby, firmly but not so firm you hurt him/her. then you'll have to touch it's little pee pee and pull arpart the little flaps. if there is a single dot on the tip then it's male, if it's a line, it's female.
it's hard to tell rabbit sex unless they are fully mature. and even then people can be mistaken. this is the way i have learned, and i've ALWAY been correct when i check to see if it's male or female. either you can do it this way, or wait a couple months to see if it develops testicles, there is really no other way to tell unless you want to take him/her to the vet (if you can find one that knows rabbits, most don't) and spend money on trying to figure it out when you could just do it yourself.

spaying a female rabbit will extend her life anywhere from 1-4 years as far as i know.
average life span for rabbits is 7-10 years. the right nutrition is key for a healthy rabbit. if you suspect your rabbit is having problems with it's lungs in the future, such as pneumonia or just a lung infection, take it to the vet ASAP. lung infections are the worst for rabbits, they are almost always fatal if left untreated.
i actaully need to go get my male rabbits neutered. not only will they chill out (even though they are chill already) but i won't have to worry about overpopulation of my rabbit community again.
neutering is cheaper than spaying. but i suggest you get one or the other done depending on it's sex (of course). it will help them to live longer, especially the females because there is no longer the risk of ovarian or uteran diseases.

no problem.
i have this great book on rabbits which goes into great detail but is easy to understand. it even has a list of things that are toxic for them to eat and a list of things that they love.
i'll have to find it so i can know exactly what it says, but it's a great book and has everything you need to know in it.
anyway, it's my dad's b-day and we're going out to dinner. <3 give your bunny lots of love and attention. they are very social animals and need affection in their lives.

I thought I had checked too. Two months after I got "her" I noticed she had grown testicles the size of grapes.
You don't have to neuter it, but if you don't, make sure you don't leave any stuffed animals or clothes lying around. Male rabbits will get busy with ANYTHING. Including your shoe if you stand still too long.

Finally figured out a name: Siya (I pronounce it 'cy-a').
I'm gonna call her that because her pattern is almost like a Siamese Cat. Siamese -> Sia -> Siya.
