OmniLabs GRAND OPENING!!
#5878376 - 07/19/06 04:44 PM (17 years, 6 months ago) |
|

Ive been thinking about this day for years now and today it has finally come to fruition!!
OmniLabs: Agaricus bisporus Cultivation in the New Millenium!
to the left you'll find bags and jars just itching to give me food
and if you'll look to your right, toys!

With plenty of room left for incubaation...

I was just about to fill up those trays in the martha, but my shit was still too hot, so i distracted myself with this here tour. Im only running the martha because i got it for so sheap and figured it would make it easier to work on random experiments. im trying to do most of the work in monotubs. I envision a completely Powerfree Cultivation TEK, for Aboriginal and Inuit cultivators, or for those still interested in growing after the world ends. Im working on that write up, but for now, enjoy your stay at OmniLabs!
I think i might have to sleep in here tonight.

Nice effort
If I lived at my house by myself I would have the room to do that, otherwise I'm stuck with my closet, which isn't bad though

Reminds me alot of my old lab! Hope you have a small HEPA running 24/7 and definitely loose those curtains bro! Very serious room ya got there bro it makes doing all procedures so much more exciting now doesn't it! Very nice job!!! BTW are your wall high gloss white? Mine were and soo easy to clean which wasn't required very often with the HEPA's running 24/7.

You know that Tyvek only provides minimal gas exchange and poor air exchange right? You'd have to be opening up those monotubs which isn't the intent..

i have the big boy HEPA always running (bottom right of the 1st pic) it puts out enough air to almost give enough circulation for my monotubs. i suppliment it with another small fan.
Im hestitant to remove the curtians because i open the window at night to cool the room down. though i do live on the second story, and no one can see into that window... down they go.
I just spawned into those three trays and filled another MT, and it was SO much nicer that working in my kitchen. i hated that shit, between cooking, eating and cultivating, i was spending way too much time cleaning the kitchen. Here at OmniLabs, everything is right where i need it, completely draft free, and it looks cool too.

i was waiting for someone to say that....
all my other tubs are stuffed with polyfil, im just trying something. i hate picking polyfil out of mushrooms. however, using a blacklight makes that job much easier!! the polyfil fibers radiate making the search and destroy much quicker.

I like your setup a lot. If I'm still into the hobby years down the road, I'll probably do a nice setup like yours.

Like i said, ive been waiting for this for years. you have to live alone, somewhere where there arent visitors just "stopping by". my apartment neighbors occassionally ask why i got the second bedroom... "Its my Dojo" "its my studio, im a rapper"
BEST: "im subletting the room to a friend to store shit while he's gone for the summer. "
BETTER: FUCK APARTMENTS!! i need a house...

earlier you said agaricus bisporus... now you're saying portabella, if you're going to fib, might as well be consistant :P
Agaricus bisporus is the white button mushroom. Which are illegal in some parts of my mouth.

...anyone? anyone? you should be more careful when accussing people of fibbing...
Agaricus bisporus are called button mushrooms when they are immature, but as they grow larger, they take on a brown color and we the people call them portabella. its the same thing dude. Forget it, Donny, you're out of your element!

LOL... i got my lab down to some pretty cool things too...
but everyone could use more shelving units. My boss closed one of his stores and let me go raid it. What did I find?
About 3 of these shelving units!
they work wonders for letting casing trays go before patching... like you said "you hate cleaning the kitchen"
me too... so now everything is contained in one area. No more people comming over like "what's with the big pot lookin things?"

we use the same plastic trays oatman. youre right, always more shelves, ive just been lazy about picking them up since i dont need them YET.
and of course we have a hot spell at the very same time that im initiating fruiting on my tubs and trays.... hopefully it will cool back down in a few days.

the clear ones, they always gave my HUGE fruits too! ive been using them for the last 4 months to store shit... but i just missed them too much
ive never tried flipping them out of the tray like that, ill have to give that a go this time around. i used to use foil to line the trays, as per agar's instruction, but im going commando this time.

i lined mine with a black trash bag. Unfortunally light still penetrated. It did at the right time i guess... because i got some killer 1-2 flushes.. then fliped, and got some killer 3-4
some were contamed, but i am taking the risk keeping them in there... they are still pumping out monsters.

I took Hippiechicks idea on the double trays

double trays is a waste of good trays, but it works, basically you put a trash bag in the empty tray, then place your colonized tray into that one, thereby making a solid black liner for your colonized tray... It's nice because you can check the colonization just by lifting out the inner tray and seeing the bottom, sides, etc. But in my opinion it's rather wasteful and utterly useless... I spraypaint my trays and have a thin piece of a tape going up the side of each side which i remove after spraying so I can check every side from top to bottom to make sure it's fully colonized... it's extremely easy and cheaper than buying twice as many trays.
