prunning
    #5878289 - 07/19/06 04:05 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

yesterday, took my plants out to flush and spray for powdery mildew. the thing is, i was looking at the lower, weak branches. they have the most mildew, and cant really support there own weight. ive never done this, but i decided to prune off all lower, branches. i heard this might retard growth a little, but also make the flowers more robust and plump because hormones will be redirected. the questions: was this a good idea? how long will this shock delay growth? in the past, ive never bothered pruning indoors, but i really hate prunning those damn popcorn buds.

PS: 4th week of flowering

The theory is that without the lower branches, the plant will focus is growth on the upper part of the plant. Usually done because lower branches yield small, less developed buds.

The plants won't shock. These had the bottom branches removed and they turned out ok

I transplanted one, & it turned all yellow & brown on the leaves, so I trimmed them, I thought it was infection? I can get a picture tommarow morning if it would help.

lol thanks all. im trying to borrow a camera (mine broke) to show the grow. they seem better the ever, and since the lower branches are removed, there seems to be so much more ventilation throughout. and my outdoor is taking off : )
