humidity problem with my 2 tier mini green house..
    #5876944 - 07/19/06 08:36 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

i was wondering what can be causing this?? it is curently at 55-60% average for humidity, and 76% F
is it for the fact that i dont havw cakes or casings in it yet, because that will definitly boost it up, right? but how much more will it elevate it for by adding caings or cakes? im adding cakes by the way, not doing casings because of a strain mix up between tamanian % Thai

|or

as my friend RR said,a solution might be togo ahead and put my cool mist INSIDE the mini greenhouse..!! does this sound right??? or dont even consider it???
thanx in adavance people, im all ears for suggestions!!

if you have a cool mist you have to be sure you have the correct type

the wick type cool mists are no good, check out this link

Greenhouses are not suitable for cakes. You need a terrarium. If you try to get near 100% humidity which is needed for cakes, a greenhouse will be soaked with excess water. Greenhouses are for bulk and cased subsrates.

I've previously answered how to get 90 to 95 percent humidity using a coolmist.

any way , this is my cool mist

and this is my set up

one question? if i Do put in casings, that should elevate the humidity up around 15-20 %, right? or am i way off??? it is 60% right now and i need around 75% humidty for casing?

that makes sense...%#@!!! my intention was to do nothing but casings, but unfortunitly, i mixed up 2 strains, out of 6-7 jars i dont know which one is which!!!
i actually ended up getting a container as a terrerium and now have them on top of perlite... but i still have about 11 jars, so im gonna start doing casings, dont care if a 1 or two might mix up..

So that means that if i put my casings inside the mini greenhouse, it should be just fine?????
with it having only 60 % of humidity right now????

You should make that hose into a PVC pipe and use angles!

HC found if you use a few nice angles with a solid 1/2' pipe or so, you can leave it running much more, keeping a consistant humidity level and creating more constant FAE.

puttng casings in it is not going to raise the RH in your greenhouse 30-40% at all. You are doing something completely wrong. My greenhouse is alot larger than yours and im running a single coolmist and have no problem at all maintaining 87%..I moved my coolmist down to below the inlet on my Martha because with it above it was causing the condensation in the lines to drip into my martha. I used a plastic dryer duct and it is working great.

am i using the right coolmist?

I honestly dont see any reason to why PVC would make any difference. Whats the ID of the tubing you are using? I'll take a pic of mine so you can get an idea of what's working for me. The room it's in is kind of narrow so pics are awkward.

i have 10 jars left, they should be ready in about 2 days...
i plan to do casings and use the green house, but im still not able to give it the right humidty..

i meant the Inner diameter of the tubing. Maybe you should move up to a larger size?

3/4 is what it shows me ....

if you think that will help, getting a bigger size...
ill definitley do it...
any other growers agree????

do you think that might be the main cause if this???

werd, that's just whats working for me. I have tested all of the shelves by moving my gauge to each shelf and waiting a few hours and the RH is equal on all levels.
