Me too. I figured that it would get knocked down, in Yoschie's case, if he didn't sell anything, or have any large amounts in his possession. I hope it works out for him and he gets out and chills for a season. I will Paypal some cheese when I am able to. Bills are due yesterday.

I went to see Yoschie yesterday.
I walked into the jail and was led to the visitation area. No physical contact is allowed when you visit somebody at this jail. I had to look at him through a tiny little window and I talked to him through a phone. The jail he is in is archaic. He told me that it is the oldest functioning jail in America. There is NO air conditioning in the building. He said that it is routinely getting over 100 degrees where the prisoners are being kept. Pennsylvania humidity is nothing to scoff at either. It was unbearable in that place.
He told me about some of the details of his case (what happened at the hotel room, what his lawyer is doing, etc..). He was surprisingly upbeat (he was smiling, etc..). I was the one that was kind of down. I felt really bad for him. I only talked to him for about ten minutes or so. He explicitly wanted me to pass on his thanks for all of the kind words and support from you guys.

Excellent news! Posession is a piece of cake. Especially if he gets credit for time served.. Shitty part is the posibility of probation and drug tests.. But hey, it's better than prison!

I can't help much, but my parents have a house in SE PA, so if you need a safe place to crash let me know. They've got some extra guest beds and they'd love it.
Once I get my paycheck I'll see if I can't send a little bit of cash. I don't know him, but I know the action being taken against him is wrong.

That was really cool of you to go and visit him, man! Let me tell you, I would have been ecstatic to see one of my friends in a visit, but all I had were fair weather associates apparently. Anyway, there are alot of jails/prisons that do not have any a/c. We were lucky to have 2 dorm fans, in Alabama. Dorms that hold 350 inmates each. It is prison. They don't have to give you shit. They just have to keep you alive. That's it.
I think Yoschie is going to be alright. He has a good, active lawyer and people that care about him, on the outside. Possession isn't that bad a charge. Even if he has multiple charges, they usually crop them together and he will cop out to one and the D.A. will usually go along to get a conviction.
Good luck Yos!!

I'll make a similar offer... I'm pretty broke still so I can't really make a financial contribution, however, I know yosh probably has a lot of time to kill...
I would be willing to send out a few books of mine as a loan...
I have about 40-50 books on my bookshelf right now, so just PM me if you'd like me to send over a list of what I've got...

What if you are dedicating it to someone in the facility and need his permission prior to signing off?

That won't work, either. You can, however, type the return address that of Amazon on the envelope, before you put the books in it. I have done that many times and it works like a charm.

You think the Name and the : ) are enough to let it through? or do they actually look at the address portion of it too if it had a return address that one could actually retrieve it from in the case it was rejected?
Just out of curiosity, why can't you send in a book? And is it only accepted from amazon? or other bookstores? what if it was purchased through the amazon marketplace?

A 300 page book is many tens of thousands of hits of acid, potentially. Or perhaps some plastic lock picking device could be imbedded in it somehow.

"because then the jail knew that they would be coming directly from the warehouse and could not have been tampered with."
this is not exactly the case, i work in a bookstore and we send out books to prisons all the time, people just come in and pick out what they want to send and upon paying we add on a mailing fee and ship them out. There are a lot of books that get sent back due to restricted content though, and a lot of material is restricted for whatever stupid reason they can give. Neil pert's book have been sent back, tom robbins, blue collar comedy...
