I got rid of cable TV last year - there's nothing of quality ever on.
My wife and I hardly watch any telly, we subscribe to a postal DVD rental service and buy the boxsets of any decent TV shows, even if it does mean waiting the plus side is no adverts.
TV sucks, even good shows like The Sopranos have loads of product placement.

That sounds about right.. The more channels, the harder it becomes to actually find something.

I recommend PBS, Discovery Times, The Travel Channel, The History Channel, and The National Geographic Channel. The Hummer commercials test my sanity, though.

As far as Discovery goes, they broke it up into several different channels on my cable box anyway. I like Discovery Science and sometimes the one that runs wildlife shows.

No doubt. History, A&E, Discovery, National Geographic, TLC, combined will usually have 1 good show on. The movie channels are pretty much miss, miss, miss, miss, hit, miss, miss.

tv is worthless, especially because of commercials.
watch an edited content for movie, that is 2 hours long but takes 3 and a half hours to watch because of constant commercial interruption?
you know people are in a sad state of affairs when they consent to do this.
get up, spend $2, and rent the film lol! turn off the telly unless it gets better, and keep it perpetually off.

I second this, especially with all the reality crap, that seems to keep popping up. Whats next? a show based in the bathroom.
