2 causes:

1. no gas exchange. are your holes covered? if its with foil, try loosening the foil a little. if its with tape, either pull the tape off all together, or switch to breathable micropore (medical) tape. they need to breathe a little, or they will stall.

2. bacterial contamination. is there any wierd smells? any yellowish tinge on the myc that did grow? does the myc seem to have made a thick border around its edges? if so, its time for the garbage can tek, and try again with better sterile precautions.

could be what creamcorn told you...no doubt!~

could also be the heat...
I have noticed that hotter temps will slow down colonization.
and sometimes will stall the jars.

81 degrees F. works best for me.
I can fully colonize a pf jar from a multi-spore inoculation in 7 to 10 days.
I have a TIT incubator and I can dial the temp in to exactly 81 degrees F.

always try to colonize your jars at 81 to 84 degrees F.

lower temps will make jars colonize slower too.

I use between 1cc to 2cc per 1/2 pint jar for inoculations...myself
So this isn't a problem.

If you have a dry verm barrier in your pf jars...
remove any tape or alum foil that is over the inoculation holes.
If your paranoid...leave the alum foil on loosely.

The FSRC is great!~

If you would like a spore print send me a pm...
I have some extra GT prints that I have been giving away to newbies.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ i agree with the heat. i think the peak growth is at 86 deg
after that growth declines extremely fast. remember the core temp will
be hotter than the air temp
