Video-playing MP3 player questions

I believe I have started about 20 MP3 player threads in this forum over the past year.
I am going to get a new MP3 player. I am trading in my 20 gig Apple Ipod. It still works and everything...but one of the quadrants of my click wheel stopped working. This pisses me off because I treated the thing like gold (I got a very strong plastic case for it, never dropped it, etc...). I will not buy another Ipod.
Here are my questions:
1. Are the new video playing MP3 players worth it? To be honest...I don't think I want one. Why would anybody want to watch some tiny screen where they can barely see anything? I also have little desire to watch video "on the go".
2. Could someone name me a brand of MP3 player that IS NOT going to fuck up after a year?
3. Why do players go from 8 gig to 30 gig with no in-between? I need more than 8 gig and nowhere near 30 gig.
4. If I do get a video MP3 player how do I get my DVD's onto the thing? Is there software included where I can take my DVD, rip it to my computer, and then transfer it to my player?

1. they are worth it if you are into watching movies and shows on the go. do you commute? find yourself in waiting rooms or airports often? I've found that screensize isnt important, it's the frames-per-second that makes the difference.
doesnt sound like you want a video player, so why worry about it?

I like cowan iaudio. this is the player I recommend: http://reviews.cnet.com/Cowon_iAudio_X5_20GB/4505-6490_7-31383684.html

yes, you rip and then encode to usually avi. specific applications depend on the player - usually free with the player or free on the net.
In my opinion, the most important feature besides the obvious is the ability to "drag and drop" - meaning you dont need software to put music/files onto the player. you simply drag and drop. the x5 does this.
