nice pin porn. I too love to wake up to pins. I still get a little misty eyed when I see new pins on my studies. Gj

hyphae. i followed your pinning strategy. it was my understanding that i should stop misting after myc is just poking through since the casing should have enough moisture to carry it through the pin set.... now i use an extremely fine mist correct?

Nice job. Treat it right and you could easily get >1oz from that, though I'm kinda guessing the size of the container.

1 oz ey? i assume you mean dried. That would be most welcomed.
Forgot to mention that this is 3 pints of finch seed crumbled & cased 50/50 moss/verm.. Substrate around 1.5 inch, casing 1.5cm deep. Day 7 after initiating fruiting conditions. Unknown strain, more than likely Aussie cubes since the original parents were found in the wild down NSW's way, Australia.

Yes, dried. 1.5" is a bit thin but I still think you could pull 28g out of that.
My first grow was about 3.5" and this was the result (27g).

Unfortunately, I pulled them too soon. If I'd waited another 36 hours it might have been more like 36-40g.

^^^ looks to me like you pulled them at the right time. another 36 hours they would have been flat if not upturned and you would have had purple spore sludge everywhere and lots of ugly mushrooms.
they don't put on much mass in that final stage, they just change chape for the most part.
your "problem" was too many pins and not enough moisture, so you ended up with lots and lots of tiny little guys. funny how something desirable like a bountiful pinset can work against you? (that is, without keeping moisture in check, which gets increasingly difficult as the number of pins increases)

And actually it really isn't that hard just increase mistings as well as FAE's. I really think some people just don't understand how much water developing fruits need, they can only suck up so much so fast from the substrate at any given time this goes for RH as well. Developing fruitbodies will take from the most abundant source which it can get the easiest which just happens to be a very moist casing.

So going by the pics, you aren't using a FC? If this is what comes of not using one, than not having a FC and just the casings would be much easier to handle.

splifner180: This is my first half decent casing that I'm proud enough of to post pics. It's probably my 6th 7th grow, lost count. Probably should start keeping a log or something.
FalseAlternative: I take the tray out of the FC momentarily for the pics.. you can just see the lid of the FC on the right, its blue.
