Blower of Minds

So my boss, I found out today, is Hindu. Pretty cool. And she somehow started talking about cows and how they're sacred. She mentioned something about how the cows helped till the land since Hindus weren't meat eaters.
So I casually mention that cows are also considered sacred because hallucinogenic mushrooms are found under cowpies. She pretty much called bullshit on it and I mentioned that her Rig Vedas are a dedication to the drug Soma. And she never heard of it and I'm beginning to question her authenticity of being Hindu (not out loud of course).
Show she leaves and about 30 minutes later she calls me into her office and she's got Wikipedia open to "rig veda" and she says "No mention of Soma or mushrooms." "Do a search for Soma," I reply. So she does and she gets this:
Quote:
It is frequently mentioned in the Rigveda, which contains many hymns praising its energizing or intoxicating qualities. In the Avesta, Haoma has an entire Yasht dedicated to it.
It is described as prepared by pressing juice from the stalks of a certain mountain plant, which has been variously hypothesized to be a psychedelic mushroom, cannabis, peganum harmala, or ephedra
And she goes into mild shock and just sits there reading the Soma wikipage. It was awesome.
I left for the day, feeling like I accomplished something.

That's quite the closed minded statement.

No no no.Thats not what i meant at all.Sorry if my statement was confusing.
I didnt mean being religious was close minded.I was trying to say that a close minded view to enlightenment was common amongst large world religions..Which is quite ironic.
I was aiming at how she did not believe the OP's comment about mushrooms and the Soma.

I like the way Indians speak better English than the English. I wonder if it comes naturally to them being a fierce warrior people. Better watch out.

How many people do you know? Total? 100, 500, 1000?
And from your experience, you're making judgement on 6+ billion other people?
I've written it before, I'm always surprised at how closed minded people on the shroomery actually are.

I'm cool. She pronounces her "v"s as "w"s so she kept saying Rig Weda. It was pretty funny. And when she was teaching me how to setup Dreamweaver, she kept saying Wisulization. And I said "I'm sorry but I have no idea what that is."

Did I say all?Did I say every person affiliated with those religions?NO
If you cant see that most of the people in question are close minded then you need to open your eyes.
I never said all I never said a few.I said it was common.
My statement closed minded? If you say so

I was in a "learn to make better decisions" class for a speeding ticket. There was a lady in there for writing bad checks. The whole time she kept reminding everyone she was buddhist and then would spout some BS and try to relate it to her beliefs.
It was horrible and I really like buddhist/hindu beliefs.

I'd just say that it earmarks the success of the early American assimilation efforts.

If you actually believe that mushrooms grow under cow shit, then I really need to get to work on inventing a device that allows me to punch people in they face via the internet.
Eris, you know what I'm saying?
