DIY DWC Cloner

So, Wiccan Seeker is helping spread Saliva though out our Ethnogarden, and Magash is always helping (including me) with questions related to MJ. So i thought i would help spread saliva with my MJ knowledge.
Quote:
Magash said: Tried water cloning yet? The reason I ask is with it you don't have to use humidity. Since the cut is constantly bathed in water no domes or tents are needed. You can build one of these for about 50 bucks with hardware store parts.
Water cloning is pretty fast, this is one week later This is day 10 or 12
Different plant but there is no reason it shouldn't work
Here is my contribution.
The above picture is an EZ Cloner, retails for $310 for the 30 site one. It is Aeroponic. That is, it bathes the unrooted stems with a stream of water. The water then drops back to bottom of the reservoir and the cycle is repeated. The action of the water dripping back to reservoir creates disruption to oxygenate the water(I believe it also has an airpump). I believe the water pump is inside the ez-cloner, adding heat to the reservoir.
here is a ghetto version of an EZ Cloner. It is not Aero. It uses a bubblewand to oxygenate the water(aka Deep Water Culture). The pump is not pictured, but it is obviously external. The bubbling action at the water surface creates enough spray to sprinkle the unrooted stems with water. Aeroponics is better than DWC, it will work faster than this TEK, it will also cost you a lot more IMHO.
My cloner uses a clear container (it should be lightproof, like the EZ Cloner, but since it only takes 4-10 days, i don't worry. I might/probably-would get better results with a lightproof container )
I am using neoprene inserts made for the EZ Cloner. All you would really need is a hole big enough for the stems. It should be a little larger (maybe 1.5X) but only so you could get the stem out without ripping off the newly formed roots, or you could get something soft to wrap around the stem a few times, to hold it sungly in the hole. I used the Neoprene inserts, use an exacto knife to cut the holes in the lid, then insert the cutting.
These inserts are 1.5" and you can see how small you can make clones.

That pic is of a clone taken 12 days into 12/12(Its a re-veg essentially), which took about 14 days to show roots. In this next pic you can see the roots of a tomato plant that are the same age(the roots are way bigger than you would need).

Here you can see the bubblewand (you can use an airstone). I put a small hole, hidden under the lip of the lid, to run the air line in. I also have 4 bamboo steaks that i used for a humidity 'buffer'. I attached them with 4 screws, threw the bottom of lid up, and wrapped the sides (not over the top) with clingwrap. I do not know if i need this 'humidity buffer' but i specifically made that tomato cutting really big, to see if it would live. It wilted really bad the first day, but perked back up after 24H.
Well its not hard to put together. maybe $40-$50 if you had none of the supplies. I am about to try to clone some spearmint that i have outside, It is (obviously to you Wiccan Seeker) in the same family as Salvia D. so if i can clone the mint (I'm 99.9999% sure i can {Aquamint + Spearmint = pepperment.FYI}) you should be able to clone Sally D.
Hopefully 100's of them this size

Yeah, I made one just like yours and it works great for cuttings, especially salvia and coleus, but I've also rooted MJ, striped jew, and even pereskiopsis. It works real well and real fast. I used an airstone. Also it needs to be cleaned every once in a while, and it wouldn't hurt to splash a little hydrogen peroxide in occasionally.

Great to hear it works with saliva, i still don't have a cutting, and i still didn't try to clone the spearmint. Although I want to spread the mint all over my yard.
