There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so

Observe and let go, observe and let go, observe and let go
Today this dead head wandered by our house, and we welcomed him in. He is extremely friendly, and he has so much wisdom which appeals to me. Those quotes above are the ones that hit home most for me, which he told me. This man has so much wisdom, but unfortunately he "overamped" on acid multiple times (500 hits at a time), and now he can't even finish half a sentence without starting another one. As a result, I hear bits and pieces of information which really astounds me, REALLY hits home for me, but I can never hear all of it, and it drives me fucking nuts. It actually makes me feel like i'm out of breath, as a result of always being 1-step behind and constantly grasping for understanding.
In the 10 minutes hes been here he talked about duality, and in order to avoid the yin and yang of judgment, you must stand on the line and not judge at all. He also talked about many other topics like living in the now, human interaction and so on.
The reason I made this thread is to ask if there are any books written by hippies which talk about this type of thing. I want to more about it (and I actually understood everything he said.. due to my drug experience maybe?) I can't get enough of his knowledge... I just want a book though with similar information that I can follow logically, because I quickly tire from hearing rambling sentences and tangents inside of tangents inside of tangents.
Thanks bros

can you write up an example of a sentence that in the middle is the start of another sentence?
his right brain must be amped up.
500 hits at once doesn't make any sense though, how would you even do that unless you had a ton of liquid?

I've listened to the audiobook "the power of the now" by eckhart tolle (i think that's how you spell it) i like the audio book because it's a lot easier to follow especially if your mind likes to wander off. if you actually think about what he's saying, every sentence is mind-blowing IMO. peace

Out-of-Body Adventures by Rick Stack teaches one how to examine beliefs and form their own ideas on such very matters, actually i think that is where the quote is from.

my parents had it for a long time and whenever I'd ride in the car with my mom i was forced to listen to it. thankfully not too long after that i started "expanding my mind" and found his writings astounding. since it was on tape the only place i could listen to it was in the car so i bought it off itunes. i purchased "practicing the power of now" which is a condensed version, although it displayed the main points it doesn't include nearly as much as it should. like how he came to write the book and questions from the editors (which are really helpful in understanding the essence of the writing) if anyone does buy it off the itunes music store i STRONGLY recommend getting the full ($18.95) version, you won't regret it. peace

Be Here Now by Baba Ram Daas (Richard Alpert) sounds right up your boat. It's my favorite book right now, it really changed the way I think.

well to me when you are falling asleep your rational brain turns off, but you keep thinking sentences, so they get garbled and morph meanings, but the meanings they morph are actually sensible because it's your brain that's making them, just not your conscious brain.
and i'm real interested to see such examples, because they seem to be part of true creativity.
you have reached this state when some of it becomes "audible" such as you really hear a voice saying aloud what you are thinking. the hypnagogic state.

Well, in some instances when composing sentances while speaking, by the time you get to the middle of the sentance you are speaking, you have already thought of the next sentance you are going to say and the current sentance is now going to be spoken in a way to prepair for the next sentance.
at least thats what i think he is trying to say.

Be Here Now by Baba Ram Dass(Richard Alpert) Anything by Timothy Leary Anything by John Lilly The Cosmic Trigger by Robert Anton Wilson(and anything else by him) The Adventure of Self Discovery by Stanislav Grof
Looks like you are getting into psychedelic literature. It is a very interesting area to study. I would go with Be Here Now as that is very close to what you seem to be looking for. In fact, the book is potent quotes and lecture with beautiful pencil drawings, all about psychedelic experience and life. Really good book

Why the hell would you want to take advice from some burned out hippy you met walking the street? And by the way, Be Here Now sucks.
