Habitat: In old forest, close to the mountains.

Gills: Straight and white.

Stem: Off white, yellowish at the top.

Cap: Clean orange, bit of yellow on ridges.

Spore print color: Waiting.

Bruising: No color change was observed.

Location: Picked in NW MD near Mountains.

Try to always collect the base of mushrooms with free white gills. A characteristic of Amanitas is a saclike structure at the base that sometimes you have to dig up. This mushroom looks like Amanita jacksonii (formerly A. caesarea), the ceasars mushroom. Being an Amanita, you shouldn't eat it though this species complex is edible. Some people have a bad reaction to it though, and it seems like it could be a different species than the Caesars mushrooms that are enjoyed in Europe.

Thanks for the advice on Amantias. I usually try to carefully remove the mushroom from the ground, but with this particular one, either my brother, or little sister found it and pulled it up.

I'll pass on the infomation though, thanks a bunch.
