Does it have a distinctive odor?

Well, it is dried now, but when I smell it I get a woody sort of smell, I don't know for sure, since it's dried.

Thanks for replying, ToxicMan! :-)

So any ideas? :-)

My first thought is Inocybe. Without a spore print it's going to be pretty tough to ID. I've found Inocybes that look very much like that (with pure white gills) where the gills later turn deep brown as the spore mature. No Inocybe should be eaten - too many of them are poisonous, and they are difficult to ID accurately to species.

Another possibility would be a Tricholoma, which would mean a white spore print.

Happy mushrooming!
