it'll be fine.

if you are real concerned, put something between the lid and cake.

like poly-fil or something.

I wouldn't worry about it.
you could just buy some new lids without holes for like 2 bucks
and fill it up all the way.

or put saran wrap over the jar and under the lid,
and put them in the fridge upside down.

You can throw the cake in a chinese takeout soup container (the tall plastic ones) fill that with water, and put a clean jar on top to keep the cake submerged. replace the lid on the china soup container and let it chill there for a while

Use bottle caps (clean, of course) to keep the cakes submerged in the water. You could even use a wad of tin foil. Lots of peeps dunk multiple cakes in buckets with weight on top. As long as the cakes look healthy, the bucket method is fairly safe. GL.
