bad trip?

I ate 4.7 grams of aborts(rumored that they are more potent, but no evidence) the other day because I wanted to see what more does (I usually have 3.5 of non-aborts). I was having a great time (great visuals, giggle fits) until about 2-2.5 hrs after I ate, then I started getting paranoid, and just wanted to get the fuck home(I was on a walk with friends). It seemed to take about 3 hours to get home (15 minute walk normally), and I was fucking scared the whole time for no reason. I got home and the rest of the night was terrible, I just wanted it all to end, and was having no visuals or giggle fits, andd time stopped. This is the first time I've ever had a bad experience with shrooms, was this a bad trip because I took too much, or something else?

Did you Mix at all? I have had a similar thing happen but took E which made me stay wide awake, (bad idea if you have a bad trip). Bad thoughts creep in and just won't go away. This case I had done more shrooms than usual as well and the visuals were more intense.

I dont know if if was the dosage or not Papa, but thanks for the info. I was getting ready to move up from 3 to 3.5 grams to about 4 plus and now I think i ll just stay in my comfort zone. I respect the mushrooms to much to test them. Thanks so much again for this info.

Glad I could help someone out, I wouldn't want ANYONE to go through what I did. I think it was the dosage, because my gf had more than usual and she said she experienced the same things, but my other friends had the normal amount and said they had a blast. There wasn't any mixing involved, just straight up mushies, I had E the week before, but I preload and postload (plus I havent done it since august), so that shouldn't have much of an effect.

Did something happen during your trip that kinda made you feel paranoid? You said you were outside with friends...were you walking around in the city or a secluded place? was anyone being loud or doing something stupid that made you feel uneasy? How many people were tripping? was there anyone around that you didn't like or didn't know very well? Also, was there any bad vibes going around between you and your friends before you took the mushrooms? what about when you were tripping?

Things like these can turn a good trip into something bad...I feel uneasy tripping outside in the city at night time. Where I live, the chances of getting jumped by a bunch of drunken assholes is very good. I also try and limit the group of people tripping to 4 very close, trusted friends. NO sober people unless everyone is taking ALOT of mushrooms. I once took 5g's of mushrooms and I was tripping so hard (lvl 4 partially 5) I was having a great time until my cousin (i'm not too close to him) started having a bad trip...I just wanted him to leave 'cause he was making me have a bad trip...he couldn't leave though because his parents were home and they would know he was tripping if he walked in to his home (he took twice the amount that I took...he was experiencing ego loss).

I wouldn't start limiting my dosage of mushrooms because of a bad trip or fear of one...I would just make sure EVERYTHING is perfect if I want to trip really hard. I would make sure I had a place to stay (no parents) and I was in a well known area and make sure I was with some very good (mature) friends that I trust with my life. I would also rather trip during the day if I was going to be outside because there is alot less of a chance of getting jumped...

When I took the 5g's, I was experiencing similar effects that you were, papa smurf...time was meaningless. Actually, everything was meaningless...I didn't know left from right, good from bad, day from night. I was really messed up. Everything started out cool, but when my cousin started having a bad trip, I tried to talk him out of it...it worked for a bit, but then he would just start tripping bad and thinking that I was his enemy. He kept asking me "are you lying to me?" "can I punch you?". So yeah...that's why I wanted him to get lost...I had to spend the whole time I was tripping with him. It was raining, we had no place to go...it was the worst experience of my life and I swore I would never take mushrooms again. Now, me and my 2 friends are growing mushrooms. When they are ready, i'm going to take like 3g's...I do want to experience a lvl 5 trip, but not for awhile...:)

I have found the best way out of a bad trip is to do something else and to try and remember it is just a drug and will be over "soon". If you are outside and it gets bad, go inside. Turn on (or off) the TV or some music, or change what you are listening to, or eat some chocolate, or anything else to try and bump your brain out of the "oh shit paranoia!" rut that it is stuck in. Remember some of the things that are really fun while tripping (I just love looking at tracers) and try to play with the fun stuff. The trick is to forget that you are having a bad trip.

Getting stuck away from your "safe place" is the worse, in my experience. I was trying to walk to the store on two hits of premo acid once and only made it three blocks before "the fear" set in... not fun. The return three blocks felt like hours, but once I got back home I was able to turn the trip around again.

Sometimes things at high doses can just turn bad - i think we've all been there or will one day... Just try and improve the setting, put on some music, make sure your warm and things should turn around

That has happened to me.....I was at a party,took only about 3/4 of an 8th, nothin was happenin,i was just chillin there then BAM!!!!!! it hit me like a freight train,felt sick and went outside to throw up. After i felt better,i tried to get back in but they wouldnt let me in so i wandered home for some reason and almost got lost on the way,looking up at the disneyland like environment and purple clouds. Time basically stopped and i came home with my mom staring at me askin whats wrong and i said nothing but i could not look at her face,she looked horrific. It was so bad i just tried to go to sleep,not think about it,but when i tried,it felt like i was getting sucked in to something,im not sure what....still puzzles me,but i didnt have any breath. Bad trips are not fun......said after that one i wouldnt shroom again but hey i shroomed yesterday and plan on shrooming tomorrow haha,one bad trip wont stop me!

I once had sooo many psilocybe Cyanescens that i tripped 5 nights out of seven - and despite what you might believe, i didnt really need to increase the dosage THAT substantially. But it was the last trip of these that was a pretty nasty trip, so maybe the mush was saying ' give us a fucking break! '

Bad trips are hell...but most of the time, you learn something from them.  I have had 3 bad trips.  My first trip, my second trip and my third trip :smile:.  My first trip, I learned that sober people and people you don't like should not be around while you are tripping and that you have to be in a good mood before eating the mushrooms.  My 2nd trip, I learned that you shouldn't trip in a shitty motel when you are supposed to work the next day and you hate your job so much it makes you sick and you want to go home 'cause you have not seen your friends/family for a month.  My 3rd trip...CHANGED MY FUCKING LIFE!!!  During this trip, I realized that I was a fucking depressed asshole.  I thought about when I was younger, how I used to be so happy, carefree...and by the end of my trip, I decided that it was time for a change.  Now i'm happy...no longer depressed...I make friends a hell of a lot easier and I am no longer shy and quiet.

So yeah...bad trips are hell, but I wouldn't take mine back! :laugh:

without saying it all over again, i'd like to second everything perfectlizard has said on this thread. i have been out there hundreds of times, occasionally on very large amounts, and it's all like leary said, set and setting. bad trips can happen even on light doses if under the wrong circumstances. don't be afraid of larger doses, if you're really that kind of person ;^)

seuss was right on target, also.

lizard: applause applause for pushing past the initial bad experiences and reprogramming yourself. that's one of the highest purposes of these substances.

sorry for the delayed response, my monitor broke and have had limited computer access lately. Now that you mention it, there were a few things that were abnormal.

This girl, Ashley, was with me, gf, and 2 other friends (we all took A LOT). Ashley is hot, and really fucking cool, and I remember thinking that I wanted to be with her more than my gf, just cuz we had been spending too much time together. The trouble started when my gf and I split off from the group and had to be around a few sober people for a while (10 min). Visuals and everything stopped during this time, and my gf started freakin out too at this time. I didn't think it would have had that much of an impact, but I guess so. Thanks for the tips, man, AND THANK THE LORD FOR THE SHROOMERY!

Has anyone here ever had trips ruined by fatigue? (on acid) My last 2 trips were good to begin with, but as time dragged on, it got to the point where I wanted to go to sleep, but couldn't. Also, all of my friends don't do acid. Some of them smoke dope occassionally, but when it comes to tripping, I'm always the odd one out. Also, hunger and having a really empty stomach has affected me too. Normally it doesn't bother me. Any tips to help me enjoy them fully again?
The worst thing is also when you have to go home and you're still peaking, and you fear your parents will check in on you when you're still awake at 5am.
Also, Papa Smurf, hope your next trip is a lot better, and try new things and keep understanding people with you. Calming music can also help if you're feeling a little edgy and sometimes helps take your mind off what's bothering you.

OR a fast ass metabolic rate. I know people that have ate less on the second night and the trip was stronger.
