Oh oh, well, you're right, I was mislead by the link- I thought you were suggesting that the mushroom fit that description.
but Bolete is the genus, I meant the species... Err, so like, if the latin name of a mushroom is Boletus edulis, then Boletus is the genus, and edulis is the species of Boletus. But you probably already knew that Just clarifying it there was a typo.

Not Boletus. The genus is Leccinum, you can clearly see the scabers on the stipe

Even when the genus is not "Boletus", I still call them all Boletes. Like Suillus for example.. I pick those around here all the time.
This is not directed at anyone in particular, but some people have confused the terms "Boletes" and "Boletus" before.
Bolete is more of a broad term where as Boletus is a specific genus name.

When did I say anything about you being right or wrong?
I think you missed the point of that post.

xmush said: Definitely not Penis Envy. That refers to a cultivated strain of Psilocybe cubensis.
In any case, Psilocybe cubensis would not grow in California, nor would it grow in a forest.
In any case, definitely not a hallucinogenic mushroom.
Exactly.
Edit: Apparently I was a little late with my response. Oops.
