harvest and casing question. need help plz :(
    #5863464 - 07/15/06 10:57 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

well a couple days ago i had a problem with my hpoo/straw trays in my TIT. they started pinning before i could case. i put them in the fc and have some nice looken fruits all is well. its just that im not sure what to do now. my fruits are ready to be harvested NOW.

i was always told to pull and twist the fruits off. but this is the first time i dont have a casing layer.

a friend told me to cut the shrooms off as close to the bottom as i could then case it and the shrooms would grow through the casing layer.
but on the other hand others have told me not to case.

this is the first flush. what would be the best solution to having more flushes and good fruits? pull twist? case or not to case? cut and case? help :frown:

I woudln't cut just because usually you will leave a little bit behind to rot. Pull and twisting should work fine. I would case on the next flush also...

if i case will it colonize or will the shrooms go through the casing layer? is there any disadvantages of casing after a first flush instead of not casing?

I'm about to do it...I didn't case for first flush, but i'm going to case with 50/50 peat/verm for the rest of them.

yes

I used to never case my horse poo til after the 1st flush...

and sometimes I would get some monster fruits off the straight horse poo.

so yes...you can put a casing layer on after the 1st flush.
