So, where do people, who don't have horses, go to get horse shit? ...assuming that they don't know anyone who owns one either. Obviously, you could go to a stable and get some - but what are you going to say, "Hi, um...can I have some horse shit?" I know, dumb question, but seriously.
I'm new to this, actually - this is my first grow. And so far, I think I've been pretty successful. 0% contamination. I have got a buncha BRF cakes fruiting away, spawning little Tasmanian devils, in my FC right now. I've got a couple dozen more jars colonizing, at various rates, in a box on top of the fridge. And I just got 3 spore prints in the mail today from FSRE and FSRC - Orissa, Mexican Albino and Argentina. So, I wanted to try another method or another substrate this time.
Suggestions, anyone?

Welcome to the shroomery.
Sounds like you've got a great start there.
One tip about this site, especially this section- about 90% of the posts day to day have been asked before, the related links at the bottom will always prove that haha.
Make sure to always search, I think I've suggested a good poop provider 3 times today in 3 seperate threads ahha.

Just go hi I would like some 6-12 month old horse poop could you help me out?
If they ask what you use it for say a special guarden. Make some stuff up african plants what ever they dont got a clue.
Tenn stud poop is a good way to do your first poop grow and u can continue to use it it works great but me I save the $$.

But, I think their site is down for whatever reason, hmm has been for most of the afternoon, we'll see.
Either way, they are the best provider for shit if you don't have anything locally attainable imo.

Yeah usually I find people don't ask me questions..I just intimidate them hah.
But you can say you are using the poop for mushrooms, hell not all mushrooms contain psychoactives of course, tell them you've got a fancy for the edibles.

yeah just go to someplace with horses and offer to clean up the pasture and take that unwanted poo off thier hands for them

I get mine from a friend that has horses...30 miles away.
Because I live in the City.
I have seen people here get it at farms, stables, off the craiglist, from the New York City Police stables, driving down the road and saw a free manure sign...etc.
Some people buy their horse poo from Tenn Stud...one of the Shroomery Vendors.
as far as what to say when approaching someone...
act normal and just ask for some aged horse manure for your compost bin, or for your veggie garden, or for your rose garden.
most people are only too happy to let you have some for free.
I like to walk around the field and collect the dry aged horse manure that is still in nugget or muffin shape...
because they have been leached by the rain and sun dried and they are ready to use!~
I use a 18 gallon rubbermaid to collect them in.
I fill up large rubbermaid containers that are in my car with the 18 gallon one...
the big rubbermaids are too heavy to carry and drag around.
Now is the time to start collecting alot of aged horse poo for the Winter months!~
I store mine in large garbage cans under my deck.
