Thanks for all the suggestions.
After LST'ing them today it seems like they should both fit in there together, unless I'm just wishfully underestimating the growth yet to come. And if LST'ing isn't enough I've got a screen that would work perfectly for a scrog. I'll have to just wait to see how it all works out.

Anyways, here are some pictures.

Some pistils on the younger plant:

Have you begun flowering yet? If you haven't, they will stretch A LOT...which is another thing to consider if you plan on keeping both plants.

Yeah, they've been on 12/12 for 9 days now. From what I read the main time for that stretching usually lasts like 2 weeks, right? Then the growth slows considerably? They've already almost doubled in size, I believe, and they continue to grow like crazy. The tops keep getting small burns because I don't check on them right as the light turns on sometimes and they've grown like 3/4in-1in during the dark period.

At the moment I think I'm just gonna settle and let them grow together while LST'ing to keep them in unobstructed light to the best of my ability. Next time I get some cash I'm gonna buy another light fixture or 2 so I can use as many CFL's as possible and hope for at least a little penetration if they do start crowding too much and taking over each others light.

I just couldn't stand throwing away a perfectly good female, especially since the plants seem to be of such different genetic makeup(they came from a stash of about 400 seeds I've saved up from many bags to just spread outdoors sometime in the future). Plus, even though the younger plant looks like it's going to be huge, it still won't take up the WHOLE cab, and having 2 should almost fully utilize the space. As long as I come out of this with some killer bud I'll be more than happy.

Most plants should pretty much stop the stretch after a couple weeks...so keep LST to the best of your ability sounds good to me.  On another topic, I think you may benefit from formatting text into paragraphs

Well they seem to be slowing down a tad in vertical growth and bushing out more already.  New calyxes are popping up all over on both plants, and I must say it is a beautiful sight.

Here's some new pictures I just took a few minutes ago.

Calyxes near the top of the older plant:

The whole cabinet.  They are forming quite a thick canopy but aren't really crowding each other that much yet:

I added that 24", 6000K grow light because the 2 daylight CFL's I was using for lighting the lower growth got crowded out by the plants.  They really seem to like it even though it has some pretty low lumens.

God damn I love this hobby

Well everything's going good. I rearranged the plants so that they fit prefectly in the cab without crowding each other, and their vertical growth seems to have substantially slowed so it appears they can indeed live in harmony. I LST'd the older plant again because it was nearly touching the light.

I got another fixture so now there are 6 26W, 2700K CFl's in the cabinet, and 1 24", 20W, 6000K fluorescent. So 176W total and just over 11,000 lumens.

I watered the plants today with 1/2 strength bloom ferts(10-52-10), full strength superthrive, and some H2O2. The last time I gave them the bloom ferts they both showed signs of nute burn, the older plant was pretty badly burned but the younger was just minor, and I flushed both. Hopefully they will take to the ferts better this time. I gave them each a half gallon of water.

Well here's the good stuff.

As always any feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

It's day 14, I think, of 12/12 and things are generally going smoothly. However, I was sleeping tonight when the lights turned on so I couldn't move the lights up to accomodate the plants. Because of this the top of the older plant got pretty badly burned.

Aside from that setback everything looks good. More pistils are popping up daily. It's getting quite crowded in the cabinet but hopefully the growth upwards and outwards will slow as bud growth really gets going.

The whole setup:

Some pistils on a side branch on the younger plant:

The burns on the top of the older plant:

So could the burns have any lasting negative effect on the plant?

The younger plant's upward growth has slowed considerably, but the older plant is still growing at a crazy pace. I had to LST it again today because its about to out grow the cabinet. It keeps running into the lights and I can't raise them any more. Hopefully that growth slows down sooner rather than later. I also hope the burned top doesn't cause too much long term harm.

The older plant is also showing signs of potassium deficiency, which can be directly attributed to the acidity of the Miracle-gro potting soil causing a K lockout. It isn't causing too drastic an effect at the moment, just slightly browning leaf margins and rust colored spots on some of the leaves. I'm not sure how I going to remedy the problem. I'll probably flush the plant soon, or I may just add a little bit of hydrated lime to its water until the pH is acceptable. Any suggestions on the best course of action would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the whole setup as of a few minutes ago:

for all the electricity you are using you could get a high pressure sodium ligh from insidesun.com for $130.

nice grow. enjoy the harvest.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have the space, money, or ventilation for HPS. When I move into a place that's bigger than a 1br apartment I'll upgrade to HID, if I'm still growing, but its just impractical at the moment. Plenty of people over at cannabis.com have achieved very respectable yields from compact fluorescents; nothing like whats possible from HID's but I'm just looking for a personal stash of high quality bud. Not to mention, electricity's cheap so its not too big of a deal.

Just a little update. I added a teaspoon of garden lime to a gallon of water today to hopefully take care of the problems with the older plant. The plants are both slowing down height growth, so hopefully that will be done soon. The number of pistils has increased dramatically over the last few day. That's about all there is to report at the moment.

Here's the whole setup:

Here's the top of one of the younger plant's branches:

The plants are still looking good. However, every time I think they are just about done growing one of them has a growth spurt and grows 1/2" in a dark period. I thought the younger plant was about done growing then when the lights turned on last night it was in the light again. There's no more vertical room at all so now I'm into the realm of creative LST'ing, with both plants having some twisted stems. I can't complain though as it the LST'ing is working out well an the buds are coming along nicely.

Fortunately most of the budsites on the branches are in unobstructed light and the ones on the younger plant are really starting to look good. The older plant is a little behind on the budding, probably due to the stress its been subjected to(lights burning it, bad soil, almost drying out completely, etc...).

Here's the whole setup:

Today I rearranged the plants in the cabinet to cope with continued growth. I also trimmed off the lowest branches on the younger plant as they were heavily shaded and were presumaby diverting energy from the branches which are actually budding. Other than that there's not much to report.

I would like to do one of those next grow since space restrictions are obviously more of a problem than I expected at the beginning. I've also been thinking about just growing Lowryder next time since they rarely get above like 16".

No, i didn't take any clones this time but if I get some actual name brand genetics I will. I'd probably grow up a mother and then take clones for a SOG.

DAY 22 of 12/12

There have been a few developments since my last update. Most importantly I was a dumbass yesterday and forgot to check on the plants as soon as the lights came on, and when I did check, the older plant had been directly on the light for about 30 minutes. The string I used to LST it had come loose from its tape anchor and the result was a completely brown, crispy top so I decided just to trim it off just above the branch closest to it since it was done for. It was already in bad shape from previous burns so hopefully it won't be too detrimental. I smoked the bits that were bud and I must say that I got quite high, and it was already undoubtedly better than the commercial it came from. Here is the top as it is now:

Other than that the plants are looking great. The younger plant has crazy amounts of hairs popping up everywhere. The older plant is developing some nice buds too, just significantly slower, probably due to the shit its been through lately.

So here are some pics taken a few minutes ago.
The whole setup:
