Bagseed Grow (w/ pics)

Well I started a little MJ grow back on 6/21 and figured I'd share the growth and get some info at the same time since this is my first grow. Plus its nice to be able to show off the grow anonymously.
I originally germinated about 30 bagseeds(from commercial weed) between 2 wet paper towels and then I transferred the first 10 to open and 10 that hadn't yet popped into small peat pots w/ Miracle-Gro potting soil( I know its not the best, but didn't at the time). I used a 25W CFL and 10 of the seeds sprouted quickly, but I had to leave town that weekend and neglected to put any type of humidity container over the seedlings. When I returned I had 9 crispy, and very dead, little plants, and 1 that was slightly droopy but still alive. I gave it a watering and within a day it looked good again. I put a few more ungerminated seeds into peat pots with the same soil and luckily one of these shot up quick.
On 6/26, I believe, I transplanted the older seedling into a larger pot, I think its 3 gallons, with about 7 quarts of Miracle-Gro potting soil and I transplanted the younger seedling to a medium sized plastic cup w/ holes in the bottom. Since then they've both been on a 18/6 light cylce with 2 ~25 Watt daylight CFLs in a reflective shoplight type fixture. The older plant took off and since the early mishap has recovered very well and is looking quite nice. I transplanted the younger plant again, this time into a 5 gallon pot, I think, with 8 quarts of unfertilized potting soil and about 1 quart of the Miracle-Gro stuff. It has done well except it's not growing at near the pace the older plant is. It also developed some yellowing on the 3rd set of leaves, which I couldn't easily identify due to it not matching very well with any of the ailments i had seen pictures of before. I clipped off the 2 affected leaves and it has recovered nicely and there is no more sign of yellowing.
I got a moisture meter for the soil and only water when the soil near the bottom is no longer "moist" on the meter. For the older plant the Miracle-Gro seems to be fulfilling its nutrient needs for the moment, I just hope it doesn't cause too many problems in the future. I gave the younger plant a small dose of blood meal mixed with water yesterday because the new growth was very light green and it had a lot less M-G nutes to use than the other. Early this morning I LST'd the older plant. It was 8-9 inches tall and a few inches taller than the other plant and I figured I'd see how well LST'ing worked, so I'm gonna leave the other plant just as it is
I have a fan on low blowing on the plants at all times and the temp in my closet is from 80-84F throughout the day.
Anyway, heres the good part: The younger plant on 7/10

The older plant on 7/10

The younger plant on 7/12

The older plant on 7/12

The younger plant on 7/16

The older plant after its LST on 7/17

The older plant appears to be indica dominant and the younger looks sativa dominant. I hope 1 of the 2 at least turn out to be female. Unfortunately I have to leave town again until next Saturday but hopefully the plants will be alright. When I get back I'm gonna get some warm CFL's and build some sort of makeshift cabinet to block outside light and I'll be putting them on the 12/12 cycle.
Well if anyone has questions or suggestion feel free to comment.

Thanks.
Unfortunately I'm going to be on the other side of the country in a couple days and I won't be able to take care of the plants for about a week. I'm leaving my apt. tonight, and even though I just watered two days ago and the soil isn't yet dry I'm going to give them a each a cup or two of water in a little bit. Hopefully they won't up and die on me while I'm gone.

Just temporarily sprinkle some polymer crystals on top of the soil if you want to be sure they won't dry out while you're away.

Should be able to find them anywhere plant related (or even a large general store) for real cheap.

Never grown before, but I thought the black seeds were male and the white female.

Whites are too immature to grow. Males, females, and hermis come from the same mature, dark seeds.

You have very thick side branching for only having a shoplight on those, and miracle grow soil IMO is not all that bad my first two grows I used it, and I had decent plants. I later bought a Micro nutrient supplement from a hydro store to make up for miracle grows lack of them.

Thanks for all of the responses.
Well the plants are at about 5 weeks of veg. Like I said I was away for a week and when I got back up here the younger plant was looking great aside from some very minor burns caused by it touching the lights. The older plant, on the other hand, was severely droopy from the soil drying out and the lowest two sets of fan leaves were done for so I pruned them and then watered both pots thoroughly. The older plant has recovered well and I LST'd it again. However, the leaves are still slightly droopy and it hasn't used much of its water as compared to the younger plant so I think is still recovering from the stress of drying out and losing some leaves. The younger plant has really taken off so I LST'd it today since my grow space is now a 3 foot tall utility cabinet from Meijer.
I have changed the lights to 2 26W, 2700K CFL's per plant and 1 23W, 6500K CFL in the middle for a little side lighting. As soon as I get some heat problems taken care of( I just need to finish making the exhaust as the heat gets up to about 95 degrees when the doors are closed), and get some reflective material on the walls of the cabinet I'm going to start the 12/12 lighting and hope for at least one female. I'm gonna take care of those things within the next 24 hrs.
I've got some more bulbs and a 24" fluorescent grow light that I'm gonna add as soon as I get the means to do so (I spent the last of my money on the cabinet). I'm also gonna give the plants some bloom booster nutes(10-52-10), at 1/2 strength, the next time I water them and then probably full strength as the plants show they need them.
Here's the whole setup. As you can see the walls are bare, so I'm gonna get some mylar or just put up some foil dull side out.

Here's the older plant as of a few minutes ago:

Here's the younger plant as of a few minutes ago:

I'm really hoping one of the 2 will be female. As always, any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Yeah, at the moment I actually have 2, one small in the cabinet and one big ouside the cabinet. When i finish the exhaust I'll just have the one small one on them but I may get another if its needed.

I finished the exhaust but unfortunately even with it, with the doors closed the temp gets up from 90-95 degrees. I watered both plants with half strength 10-52-10 fertilizer for the first time and I put them on the 12/12 light cycle for the first time yesterday. The high temps sort of concern me as they might go even higher than 95 with the lights on if I had to leave the doors closed for the full 12 hours. For now I'm just gonna leave the doors open when the lights are on and put a large fan outside of the cabinet, at least until I can afford another fan for either an active air intake or another exhaust. I may also just leave the temps and use the yeast and sugar water method of creating CO2 so that the growth isn't stunted by the high temps. On top of all this my damn AC broke yesterday and I won't have time to get the maintenance man to fix it until after this weekend because I'm going on a little trip once again. At least this time its only until Sunday. I also put up some foil dull side out, and did a pretty half assed job, using black duct tape and only covering the easy to cover areas. I'm not too worried about it though.
Anyway heres some pictures:
This is the older plant this morning

Here's the youunger plant this morning

And here' the whole cabinet this morning

So I was just looking at my plants hoping to see signs of sex, and I seem to have at least one female and a possibility of both being female. At two sites on the younger plant there appear to be pistils growing from branch unions, and there appears to be the same at one site on the older plant. One site on the younger plant was visible enough to take a picture of:
So what do you guys think, if you can see anything that is. Any closer and my camera couldn't focus.
I'm thinking that if both turn out to be female I'm just gonna get rid of the older plant for a few reasons. For one, the grow space in my cabinet is already getting pretty crowded and I will definitely need to do some more LSTing. Also, the younger plant seems to be sativa dominant and i prefer a sativa high over an indica high. The older plant is also having some health problems, I would assume from the Miracle-gro potting soil and the fact that it has the time release nutrients in it. After I added the bloom ferts it showed signs of nute burn even though they were at half strength. I'm sure the younger plant will take up most of the grow space if I LST it more and with the light that would be given to the other plant being added to the younger plant I will be able to get a good deal more bud of a type which I prefer. Plus, I won't have to deal as much with both the pH and nutrient problems that the M-G soil is supposed to cause.
Feel free to toss out some opinions on what I should do. I would hate to get rid of a plant that was female so if I decide to only grow the younger one indoors I might take the older one to a friend's house or just to some random outdor spot.

I just went and had a closer look and they're both confirmed females. I'm trying to think of how I could keep both of them and I may be able to overcome the space limitations with some creative LSTing. I just dont know what would be more worth while; giving 1 plant all the light, space, and attention, or dividing it up between two plants.

Yeah thats what I'm leaning towards at the moment, since I've already come this far with both of them. However, the younger plant is already pretty big, the stem is probably 16" long and I have to move it away from the lights daily due to it growing at least 1/2" a day, and the space is only 20" deep and I believe 30" wide. So considering the fact that it should grow to at least twice its size it will probably be tight in there with just that one plant. I'll do some surveying when the lights come back on in about 7 hours to see if its possible to keep both, and I'll post some pictures of the whole setup to get some more opinions.

I'm guessing there's nowhere to put the indoor reject? Maybe you could put her in a discreet spot outside? It would be a shame to lose one...especially because the two plants could come out looking, tasting, smelling completely different even if they are the same strain.

Well I live in a 1 br apartment so there's no other space here to put it. I live in a fairly large city without any large, public, wooded areas around that would be free from pesky people, at least that I know of, but I may have to look for one. I've got a couple friends that grow outside and I'm sure they would welcome a nice indoor plant since I could even give them the lights they'd need since I have a few extra. The only problem is that they live 75 miles away and I'd hate to drive that far with a foot+ weed plant in my car.

Hmmmm...75 miles with a pot plant in your car may be a little sketchy
I'm gonna go out on a limb (uhhhyuuuukkkk) but have you thought about putting it in a tree? There's a small tree outside my house that I was thinking of putting a plant in, except i have backyard space...
Ever think of constructing a bigger cab and putting it in the corner of your room? A free dresser drawer setup from craigslist could be converted...but yeah, i know my bedroom couldn't support an extra 4in square, lol. I don't know what else to suggest maybe you do need to get rid of one of the girls

Just let them grow into eachother, they will be fine. Plants have to grow and adapt all the time, and plus it would be such a waste to throw away a female!
