I have a theory - need to get some opinions .

The other day I awoke from a nightmare and found that I badly needed to pee and suddenly had an idea, almost everytime I wake up from a nightmare I find that there is something I need urgently to do and need to be awake to do it so my brain trys to wake me up .

I find that the state of mind that tripping causes can in many ways be similar to being asleep and dreaming .

I wondered what it would be like if I were tripping hard and my brain was "tricked" into thinking that I was actually aslleep then something happend that needed my wakeful attention, I would probably find that my mind would try to construe all that I was experiencing as deeply negative trying to turn the "dream" into a nightmare and I might try to wake up from the experience and try to escape and thus the classic bad trip would have occured. wow I think this mechanism might be the cause of some bad trips -what do you think ?

i dont think so either, have you ever had a bad trip? needing to do something is definitely not the cause. tripping makes you extremely impressionable, if you see, hear, or think about something negative your brain takes it and runs and you better catch up with it before it gets too far.

Bad trips come from worries in your normal life. I remember being in love with my girlfriend and when she broke up with me i couldnt smoke weed for a month because it always made me think of her and the good times we had and how we were now and it just depressed me and made every trip bad. I couldn't smoke weed til I was over her.

I had a dream that Tim Leary was holding some kind of essay contest at k-mart.
He liked what I wrote even though it was the same word over and over again in a spiral.

Drinking water before you go to sleep can be used to help become lucid in dreams, but maybe in your case the bodily discomfort affects your dreams.

I dont mean something consciously apparant but a problem that the base parts of your brain think needs to be dealt with in a conscious manner .
Does that make sense to you ? I wrote it in an odd way .

In my bad trips, my brain locked me into itself and threw away the key.....the little brothers want me as their prisoner....

I think the need to do something urgently, though and the mind waking you from sleep is valid....but I just never had it work that way during a bad trip.....the trip just took me deeper until I fell unconscious.
