The countryside there is very cool, lots of hiking and farms. As far as city life, it's not that great. The people there are either quite rich or on the not-so-rich side of things, and are drunk most of the time. I vacationed there once or twice and it was fun for a week or however long, but I don't think I'd want to spend much longer there.
Maybe you can find a nicer area though.

Scotland, as in Scotland - Great Britain ?
If so it snows all winter, rains for most of the summer. It'll take you a year to get used to the accent before you can understand what anybody is saying. Most of the big citys are about as rough as Britain gets, aaaand alot of the women tend to have this similar rough look about them.
They like eating sheeps stomach too which can't be good.
The countryside is some of the best on this planet though so i could forgive all i just said if i had a place in/near the mountains somewhere.

My good friend is moving back to Scotland in January. Scottish people are fucking hilarious. I love em and will miss him a lot. He's opening up his own burrito shop in downtown Edinburgh. I told him to save me a job for when I need to smuggle out of the country.

Yeah dude and we all wear kilts and play the bagpipes. Noone that I know eats sheeps stomach, if you mean haggis then yeah most people eat it maybe once a year at the most. It heardly ever snows, maybe once or twice a year for two days, but it does rain a fair amount. Summer weather is usually good, been high 20s celcius for ages which suits me fine..dont like it too hot. Anyway all the stereoptyes are bollocks really.
Glasgow is an amazing city, its true theres some very rough parts but you dont go there unless you live there, the city center and the West End in particular are very safe and full of beautiful builings. There s a great scene here, its really vibrant and alive without being too big...the music scene and going out is awesome. Theres plenty of beautiful women, dont get put off by all the slappers out at the weekend. There is a big drinking culture but mostly its fine. Scottish scenery is some of the finest in the world, the highlands and islands are some of my favourite places on the planet. Whisky is delicious. Edinburgh is essentially English.
Its a great country, people are really friendly and theres plenty of fine, fine weed about.

Most of whats been said is pretty true, but the women here are stunning ,tho i have noticed teenagers are getting fatter, but sheep's stomachs will do that.If you do come here i would opt to stay kinda Central Scotland, that way you can access most places on an hour or two drive.Glencoe has to be seen to be believed {if its not raining}Plus side, all that rain means mushies galore

Where abouts are you now ?
If i had a choice i'd prefer to live in ireland ( southern ireland anyway ). I'd hate to be away from the mainland though. The irish are some of the funnist people ive ever met.

i am in washington state here in the US as of now.
my ancestry is scottish and i would love to visit that area and just experience somewhere other than the US for a while.
i choose ireland and scotland because they are also relatively close to the rest of europe.

My friend from Falkirk always tell me I would be stabbed to death if I ever wander into the wrong side of Glasgow. It sounds like useful advice from what I have read.
