Tree Mushrooms

I found some amazing mushrooms today, but there is one in particular that I'm really eager to identify. I don't know what else to really do other than to just show you the pictures, ask any question you think may help. My first impression was that perhaps it was Reishi mushroom, but I am not sure, it may not be, It looks kinda like it.
It was found on a dead tree, that was still standing, I found about 5 at the base, the bugs had got to the undersides of them, not to badly though, but I found a perfect specimen about 10 ft up the tree.

Thanks for ANY assistance, I very much appreciate it.

Yep, its a reishi...either Ganoderma lucidum or tsuage...was it growing off of a conifer or a hardwood?
-------------------- Dreaming of that face again. It's bright and blue and shimmering. Grinning wide And comforting me with its three warm and wild eyes. On my back and tumbling Down that hole and back again Rising up And wiping the webs and the dew from my withered eye.

It was a hardwood.
Thank you very much for responding :-).
Isn't Reishi a very rare find?

I don't know how rare they are... I think they are fairly common.
Some people consider them medicinal. But I am not versed in the beneficial components of this mushroom, if there are in fact any.
Here is some info on the two similar species:
Ganoderma lucidum http://www.mushroomexpert.com/ganoderma_lucidum.html
Ganoderma tsugae http://www.mushroomexpert.com/ganoderma_tsugae.html

They are definitely rare and have a myriad of medicinal properties.
Have a look, ;-)

I find them all the time. But they are so amazing looking and can vary so much in color and shape that I'm always happy to find one. Yours are about the biggest that I've ever seen though, great pictures!
Here are a couple I found last fall that i think are pretty crazy looking
