A good place to move?

I've been wanting to leave the U.S. for awhile now. It's for a combination of reasons, but at first i was thinking Europe. Now i've realized that will take 10+ years of saving because the standard of living is ridiculous in most places, plus naturalization takes 5 years (on average).
So now my eyes are set on central/south America. I was thinking Costa Rica, but the immigration policy straight up blows ass, and plus it is a bit too touristy. Then i was thinking Ecuador, but apparently the crime is a huge deal - this is the website of a guy who has a lot of experience living and working there, and apparently people will just hop out of the forest while you are on a hike and rape your girl at gunpoint. Also armed robberies, and lots of other dirty stuff that i really wouldn't want to deal with.
So is there anywhere that is pretty coastal, that isn't super fancy and touristy, and where i won't get robbed or raped?
I realize i am basically asking for heaven...

Stick with Europe. I'd like to live in Scandinavia or Iceland.

Europe is not only very expensive, but you would have to adjust to a different language and different customs. It depends on where in Europe, though. You can go to Hungary or Czech Republic and teach English and be able to live. I also plan to get the hell out of here soon and looked into things like this. I am currently in the process of taking TEFL courses to teach English.
Canada is another option.
And as far as Central/South America, I would only suggest Argentina or Chile. Puerto Rico isn't that bad either. But you should know Spanish.

Scandinavia is just like Canada basically. Except for the fact we have hotter girls.

Scandinavia has a ridiculous naturalization process. That was actually the first place i wanted to move...
And i don't mind learning a new language, especially if it's Spanish. I am 2 years into a degree in English with a TEFL.

I think all Scandinavian countries have closed borders. If your not a political refugee your shit out of luck. That's how it is in Sweden anyhow. I suppose if your American things might be easier.

The naturalization process in every European country is bullshit. The international(non-EU) student tuition also offends me in most of Europe.

There are plenty of areas in Costa Rica that aren't so tourist-oriented. Sure, the tourism is a big part of their way of life, but it's a good sized chunk of land that has many nooks and crannies of luciously green delight. Not to mention, if you got homesick you could head into San Jose and get a quasi-rememberance for what city life was like and why you wanted to leave the US in the first place ;]. There's also much english spoken around there so if you are not fluent in Spanish, you could ease yourself into the whole lot.
New Zealand seems real nice too.

I backpacked in Mexico for two months, there are plenty of places there that are not touristy and still very cheap to live. I have only travelled the central colonial cities and some places on the pacific coast. I would love to go to the Yucatan....next time.

Mind if I ask your reasons for moving? I mean I can see a few: Fucked up Politics, 50% of people are sheep. But what I'm always happy about is that I don't have to be paranoid of being killed/robbed etc. If I ever got enough money together I would love to move to a remote part of Canada and live off the land for a couple years. It would be so peaceful, then move to like Toronto (which I hear has quite a ganja/shroom scene) plus its a utopia for skaters which is definetly my thing. Man Im convincing myself to move up there. haha

How about a good place to move to be a hermit? Like having access to easily renewable food and clean water (in the winter, too).

I heard the west side of Vancouver Island is inaccesible, then there's all those islands between there and the mainland.
