Disappointing Pinset :(

Throughout this grow, I have learned quite a few things to perfect my next (most being equipment changes like my FC). I'm happy for that, however, I want to make the most out of these that I can. I'm sure the mushrooms currently growing will get to be pretty large, but I'm very disappointed with the number of them. What can I do in the next flushes to make the most out of things? I've been thinking a casing layer would be a good idea but I'm looking for any suggestions. I want more pins! All of my trays are fairly comparable....

*Note* i'm using BRF spawned to Hpoo.
Thanks!

First off, you should have cased your spawned Hpoo. Use this as a reference and you will have much better success. (It worked wonders for me)

Thanks for the input! I'm planning on dunking next flush then casing with 50/50 verm/peat. Anyone suggest a different route?

Verm/peat is a good casing mix (from what I have heard) But I am lazy... I just went to Wally-World and bought the bag of "Ready Mix" it has peat and verm in it as well as some other shit too. All of my casings have been very tasty thus far. (Minimum of 1 oz dried) from the first flush in my 8x12 1" pans. So far no complaints...! (Monotub is coming next) -Me

You know, I'm also thinking about injecting some spots with H2O....some areas where there aren't any pins. It seems the main disadvantage to not having a casing layer would be moisture...and injecting it would help/fix. Would are your thoughts? Should I do it period? Would it be too late for this flush and I should just wait, then case next flush?

I'd be an idiot to imply that there is no room for improvement (I'm not) and yeah, a casing layer would be a good idea but those are still some nice fruits. =)

Oh I surely will enjoy them! I just know that with the same amount of effort, I could have made minor adjustments that would at least double my yield. Thanks for the encouragement! What do you think about my H2O injection idea at this point?

I have no experience with injecting H2O but I have seen it talked about and IIRC, it's OK to do.
But on the other hand, with a properly hydrated/dunked substrate, there should be no need at all to inject.
Back to the pinset issue... I have noticed that my better flushes have come from moderate pinsets. When my pinsets have been very prolific:

...or when they've been modest, my "take" has been a bit anemic. I'd suggest shooting for some middle ground.

Thanks spliff! I think you're right! I did shoot them up a little bit though. I did it in moderation so this will be my experimentation with injection

I think if you follow Hyphae's pinning strategy, you'll get better results. A moist micro-climate (a casing) will certainly increase pinning for you; nevertheless, those are very nice bulks. Good luck.

Prolific pinsets require a ton of moisture or they will be stunted or they will simply stall. They require EXTRA attention if you slack at all here your yields will definitely suffer! Water delivery is an art all it's own

As much as I'd like I cannot take credit for that grow, it was a colleagues/mentor project.

Good god, that pinset is so nice its kinda scary to look at. At first when I hadn't inlarged it my eyes just skimmed over the thumbnail and I was thinkin whats that nasty orange/brown contam!! Like for real thats enough to supply a small village with a trip per person :P
edit: I was actually reffering to splifner's pinset in that monotub, but hyphae's are fucking crazy as well!!

Hyphae that's an inspirational pinset. Crazy. I'm going to be using ReadyMix, and I hope I can get somewhere near a tenth of that kinda pinset.
