My Incubator/Fruiting area... *shitty pic!*

Evening all...

Well, after some trial and error, my budding career as junior mycologist is underway. I am posting a pic (albeit crappy, sorry) in the hopes it helps a fellow n00b out there, or sparks something, somewhere... or something. (Hi Jared.) Below is the output of my neighbors horribly crappy "all-in-one" web cam, camera, blender, dildo.. junk. Oh well, you'll get the point, eh?

Okay, you really can't see much from the pic, but in my closet I have a portable greenhouse measuring 50" tall X 27" wide X 20" deep. It is resting (temporarily) on a metal cart. Under that cart is a small ceramic-type heater which is connected to a timer (1/2 hour on, 1/2 hour off.) Keeps temps between 80-84F in the closet.

On the bottom shelf (just below where the pic ends) is a air purifier/ionizer that runs 24/7. I tilted it slightly upward so clean/ionized air is constantly swirling about.

#1 is my incubator experiment. I have 6 1/2 pints of birdseed colonizing nicely (Spores from Sporeworks) They are sitting in a bath of 50/50 water and hydro perox. I leave the lid slightly ajar, and with the temps staying around 82-84F, I get great humidity. The jars seem to love it, I'll keep you posted on progress. The white "wire" is the remote temp. sensor for my temp/humid gauge. I have it sitting in the bottom of #2, which is a box of 4 Myco Bags (Sporeworks) that have yet to show a thing (7 days now, not real hopeful... although the same spores were used to knock up the jars...?) The temp in the Myco Bag box reads 83F

#3 Two honey water jars that I just did a couple of days ago (B+ and M.R.... Thanks Capt. Max! Great Salmon jerky, btw...) They are getting nice and cloudy, we'll see...

I am constructing a dedicated incubator as we speak, so this little setup will go away and be used for casings only.

Oh, and the light only goes on for pictures...

I'll post as things develop... anybody else wanna share their setup? I think if some of us n00bs compare notes and listen to people like Anno and the other talented and helpful people around here, we can all accomplish whatever it is we are trying to do.

Thanks to everyone that has helped me and held contests, and just generally been cool... this is by FAR the most fun I've had on the internet (Yes, that includes lesbian porn, TeRz... lol)

Oh, I forgot... the jars utilize Anno's polyfill tek...

I HIGHLY recommend it, especially if your having slow colonization times and contams... seems to handle clean air exchange pretty well.
