Instead of paying a couple of thousand dollars to fly to mainland Europe, I suggest flying into London for less than half the price then making your way to the mainland. Easy way to save a ton of money.

Hmmm if one were to say perhaps be planning a trip to Amsterdam at some point in his college life where would one start at even looking to go there? Flights hotels and what not? And how much should I put aside for spending?
I don't mean to jack the topic.

flying to london is indeed the cheapest solution from the US...plus heathrow seems to have the less expensive airport tax compared to other major airports in mainland europe.
then you have the option for flying low budget airlines like easy, ryanair, german wings, blue1, etc. to get to places around europe...though when they say they fly to frankfurt or paris for example..in reality it's an airport really fucking far away from the city centre but, usually there are busses which you can pay for sponsored by the airline company to take you the centre of the city.
