The saddest song in the world is Roy Buchanan's "Home is Where I Lost Her" from the "That's What I am Here For" album. I met a stranger in a bar once and we got to talking 'bout music and I said the saddest song ever..... and he said what I was thinking before I got done. Play it.
There are devestatingly uplifting songs too. See Leonard Cohen's "Democracy" from the album "The Future".
I know you all can find this shit better than I can link it.
