then added brf,flax,and verm-
pressure cooked for 45 min-
incoulated
they were colonized in 14 days-
i birthed-
we have been having some real weird weather here, and i live in an upstairs apt-so its hard to keep the temp down-it has hit above 80 f-

Yeh cold shock them. Drop the temp down at least 10 degrees from the lowest it gets. So if the lowest is 70 F degrees, then make it under 55-60. The only place your gonna get these temps is the fridge. Do it for 12-24 hours or for several consecutive nights(cycles)
Birdseed should not be that much different than pf or rye. Humidity for cakes is very high I'm told. Somewhere near 95-100 rH.
I would case them from now on too. Its not that difficult and it greatly improves pinning and moisture retention.

birdseed cakes are sucky.

well they are cold shocking till 10 am-they also seemed a little dry-is it too late to crumble and case the mother fuckers?i have an eucador casing (from the same syringe)that has blown way past these fukers! and it was done way past them! it started pinning this morning-same recipie-i have never had problems with this recipie before-until i birthed them as cakes-i think the mycellium is having trouble penetratiing the seed for some reason-just my theory-so is it to late to case them?

You are absolutely right. When I first found out that people were using bird seed I decided to grind some up and try it myself. I compared yeilds from 24 jars, half long grain brown rice, the other bird seed. Fruiting was virtually identical. This is great considering that bird seed is is less than half the cost of long grain brown rice.
