If the Shroomery Vendors and Admins feel such a list is not warranted here.
I can host such a list/page on the FSRC site.
Providing there is enough support for it. And the info is accurate.

I guess the next question would be, "who would judge what makes a rip off site".

Also, if a company is put onto the site, what will it take to get off of it?

Excellent point.

I would expect the page would have to be setup in two sections.
The top one consisting of the obvious hard core "Bad Vendors", and perhaps a Complaint section.
If a complain is received, the vendor is contacted to see if the problem can be resolved, before anything gets posted.
If they do nothing... it gets posted.
If and when it's resolved... it would be removed.

I wouldn't mind acting as a mediator between Vendor and Customer,
but I don't want to become judge and jury
I'd have to find a few non-vendors for a panel

Hey Shdwstr,
Remember, I'm just playing devils advocate

To be a "go between" when it comes to the customer and a vendor probably wouldn't work very well.

There are a few reasons.

1. The security aspect.  In order for you to go between the customer and the vendor, names and possibly addresses and/or the items they've ordered would have to be told to you.  I'm not saying you're a problem, but for many folks, they would probably feel uncomfortable releasing that kind of information to you.  I know most, if not all of, the Shroomery vendors are very hush hush about their customers personal information.

2.  Puppets!  You would have to verify every complaint with the vendor.  There may be one upset person who makes 10 different usernames and makes 10 different complaints.  If/when that would occur, you would be using up a lot of both yours and the vendors time.  And thats IF the vendor is willing to verfiy that the person complaining is actual a customer.

3. Upset bad vendors!  A good vendor will keep their customers identity private.  If a complaint is made or a problem occurs a good vendor will fix the problem.

Now a bad vendor may tell you to go fly a kite, then call up the DEA on their customer.  Vendors are people too, and if a bad vendor gets pissed off (especially in a market that consists of people growing an illegal substance) Things could get very ugly, very quick.  Remember, once a bad vendor has a persons billing and/or shipping information it can be a lot like a drug deal (a bit less extreme but...)  If a customer complains about a vendor, then that bad vendor can also become a rat and turn around and dial 911.

Vendors have come and gone.  The bad ones always fall.  The bad vendors who are still around, well.... Karma can be a mean teacher.

I think a list of sites known to rip people off is a great idea. Puppets can easily be identified by the admin. I don't think having a "go between" is necessary or appropriate.

Re: Bad/Ripoff Vendors List Poll [Re: Lana]

I think most mediation, if ever required, could be done strickly through a few emails, without too much client info being exchanged, but your right. Perhaps it's an endevour for future consideration.

A "Questionable Vendor Page" might be more the ticket.
Made under Roadhouse Rules... you know... "Be Nice, until it's time, not to be nice"
That could at least give some insight as to what a customer could "Generaly" expect from a certain Vendor.

i think having a page that allows any website to be added from a member would be good....there are many sites in general that people should be on the look out for.

having it split up into different sections would be nice.

but it needs to be kept simple, add site, leave one review, the end. think eba-y reviews.

but i also feel it should be anonamus. because just like in real life, the companys don't hear you talkin to friends ect. about good deals and bad about wall-mart.

Here's an older site where they tried to help consumers by rating Herbal Merchants. Possibly an updated version of something like this may be helpful.

Hey Capless......what about M.Shack?  PPL would see them as familar and get fucked. BUT if there is something(no name for this list/report yet) like this ppl WILL check it .It's conveinient and just plain GOOD. If that would have been available for me and my friends we would have had a better site.  Also....the shroomery is not the daddy of all sites for everybody but one of the best IMO.

Funk dat...

Sponsors are listed here for a reason - they pay to be advertised here, and if they fall thru they get hell.
As it was stated before - there is no such thing as bad publicity. Our reputable sponsors pay good $$$ to be listed here because this is the #1 shroom site on the net. Why give "bad" sponsors the exposure that they so dont deserve?

It takes the same amount of time to read the post that says "Only use Shroomery Sponsors" that it would to read the list of places not to go.

At first I was of the mindset that "Oh wow, Use the Shroomerys sponsors because they pay to be here, and the Shroomery is just plugging people they like..." Not the case but, thats the point. Credibility is worth having your name on an invaulable resource such as this.

Shit sponsors dont deserve a sticky mention here. Fuck them.
Use Shroomery sponsors, they are here for a reason. (Because they do good work)

A lot of you will bring up the Mycoshack Fiasco. But when it hit the fan it was the long time Shroomery Sponsors that stepped up and covered members losses at their own expense. Now that's class!!

Its wierd when you say there is no such thing as bad publicity,

because when I hear of a site that rips off many people I always go

to the site and look around at what they got haha.... but I never

consider buying from them...Maybe posting names of vendors that

constantly rip off customers would get more visitors to the site, but

I bet not many of them would actuallly buy Items could that be

considered good publicity still?

Does that make senset o anyone?

I dont think the shroomery should try to act as vendors cops

there is this webpage
http://www.ripoffreport.com/default.asp

where you can report any website that has ripped you off

Again, this is a bad idea. The next scam would be scammers reporting false information about good vendors. There are always people with an axe to grind and like Lana stated, how are you going to get around puppets and verify these accusations? You would have vendors trying to black list other vendors and puppets galore. IMO, it would just be a CLUSTER FUCK!
