Last film I saw was Alexandro Jodorowski's "El Topo", and it was pretty rad. John Lennon's favourite film, apparently.

I thought Jodorowski's "The Holy Mountain" was better. He made that one with Lennon's help to fund it, both are great tho.

Alice, directed by Neco z Alenky. it's al;most nightmarish. all the animals and stuff are puppets and really simple. it's so simple it's really scary.
do not watch this when you're high and definitely not when you're tripping. it's THAT good.
actually it's really shitty but it has a vibe that makes it totally awesome. if someone has some webspace i'll upload it tomorrow. XviD, about 700mb

Alice is great and its not shitty by any means. Its not directed by Neco z Alenky, which is part of the title. Its directed by Jan Svankmajer who is brilliant. "Faust" by the same director is also very good.
And it is frightening but on my friends first trip we were watching it. It actually turned out hes quite sensitive to shrooms and ended up thinking the movie was real. It was good fun and he loved it though.

Is Baraka the one where it just shows different cultures of the world with absolutely no dialogue? If so, a very good film.

I liked Dead Man a lot.
Stefan, Here are a few good ones that come to mind (some have already been mentioned in this thread):
Four Rooms (written in part by Quentin Tarantino) Mulholland Dr. Godfather Goodfellas Taxi Driver King of Comedy Jacob's Ladder Pecker Reservoir Dogs One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Blue Velvet

Goin' where the water tastes like wine.

my five favorite movies:
Goodfellas
Pulp Fiction
Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Princess Mononoke - Seriously, see this before Spirited away.
tie between Yojimbo and Seven Samurai - two crazy Japanise Samurai movies from the fifties by a famuos director named Kurosawa.
I usually cant stand black and white movies, but numbers 3 and both fives are B&W and very gripping.
Here are some more movies to see:
Raging bull and Taxi driver, both directed by Martin Scorsese, as was Goodfellas
Hero - the most beutifully shot movie ever except perhaps the next one:
North by Northwest - A Hitchcock movie I really only mentioned for it's cinamatography.
Usual Suspects- Crime film with one of the coolest endings ever.
Snatch - Kind of in the same vein, not quite as good, but its fun.
Im sure everyone has seen Fight club and the matrix, but if not they are cool and fun.
Donnie Darko is another good one, pretty wierd though.
I recently saw Syriana, wich wasnt bad, not really up to par with any of the above movies IMO, though.
Another crazy political movie was The Manchurian Candidate, I never saw the original, It is supposed to be better though.
My freinds keep telling me about some movie called 8 and a half, just a warning though, it sounds arty and intellectual.
Scarface is always a classic, some people think it's sloppy, but I think its just really raw.
In closing, I also think Dead man is a pretty good movie. A bit abstract for some though.
Edit: I dont know HOW i left out Godfather 1 and 2

I just threw up into my mouth a little.
But honestly, there were a few cool parts. I think the only good parts were the plot scenes with the kid dealing with his dreams and the rest was crap. I haven't seen it in a long time though.
