Sorry for posting twice but to extend on that I've heard of a material used by the Woads that made them stronger in battle and also helped the seers in spiritual trances.

Yes. Mushrooms grow on almost every square mile of every continent on earth with the exception of Antarctica. Even Antarctica has types of lichens (also a fungus) that grow there.

You can start by reading the forum Rules and FAQ. Plus you can also use the Search function.
One of the rules is No asking "what mushrooms grow in my area?".
But since you are hunting in Europe I won't lock this thread. We don't have as many Europeans posting their mushroom finds here as I would like to see..

Amanita muscaria. Yes it does grow profusely in the UK, look for it in Silver Birch woodland.
I however don't recommend using it, Psilocybe semilanceata (the liberty cap) grows abundantly here and is by far the better of the two.

Perhaps it was started in another forum and one of the moderators of that forum moved it here.
That type of thing has happened a lot...
It looks like this was started in the cultivation forum.

It provides all with a world wide listing of every country, continent and Island groups and state by state and province by province of more than 215 neurotropic species.
If you have a hassle finding it here, links are also at http://www.mushroomjohn.com in the index pages
