A macro trip through the garden

I decided to test my new camera's macro function and make some nice pics in the garden. I must say I'm really impressed with this cam. The images are quite large because small resolutions don't do the macros justice. So please click the pics for full resolution.
I think I may have scored the poppies too deep. What's the right way to score poppies? What tool do you use?
I hope you enjoyed the trip through my garden

Use a razor blade to score your pods, only cut to the depth of the sharpened part of the edge, about 1mm deep.

No, one most pics the camera was held as close as the auto-focus allowed. I'd have to get a more professional camera with big lenses to do that. With my new camera I wanted something that easily fit into my pocket but still made nice pictures. If it doesn't fit in my pocket I'd carry it around a lot less and miss photo-ops.
Hanky, thx, I'll try that

what camera did you get?
i just recently purchased a nikon d50 with the 18-55mm lens, has a 22-50mm and telefoto...the 22-50mm and the telefoto i doubt i'll hardly use but hell it came with it...the 18-55mm is great with macros and just good as an all around lens...maybe i'll sell the other two :P
i also wanted a camera that i didn't want to lug around and could fit in my pocket...the husband person got me the panasonic lumix dmz9 as a christmas present...really nice display but it friggin cracked so i had to get it replaced it has a leica lens..and i must say i'm really happy with the quality of photos

Yeah I was really disappointed that the camera didn't come with a protective carry bag. I now bought a small samsonite bag for cameras. Apart from that it's a great camera.

Very nice pics!
Like Hanky said, use a razor to score the pods. Just knick the surface, it doesn't have to be that deep, they'll bleed the goods.
Not to hijack your thread, but here's a few of my favorite macros that I've taken:
And my absolute favorite macro picture I've ever taken:
Heh... I just notice that almost every picture I have uploaded on the shroomery is a macro of some sort. I guess that's my specialty. Thats why I want a Nikon D200 with an insane macro lense Ahhh... It's nice to dream.

I've heard that using a safety pin slightly bent at the needlepoint to scrape pods is a very effective means of doing so.
more control over the score that way.
nice pics BTW!
