Mixing Substrates?

I've got 3 pt size WBS jars colonising and I have no poo with which to spawn. I also have 10 popcorn jars colonising. My question is, 1) Can one successfully case WBS? and B) Can I just add these to my 10 jars of popcorn I also have colonising in their casings? I mean, can you cross substrates like that? Or is it just generally a bad idea? I know WBS has a seemingly higher contam ratio. All have been knocked up with PF strain.

You can just case WBS if you want. I have just cased RYE Grain before and went perfectly well.
My main sub now is a mixture of WBS/Verm/Poo/Kelp these days and it works perfectly fine.
And i don't really understand question B about adding them to your casings.
People cross sub all the time i think, with the "spawning" people do.

you can spawn a jar of wbs to straight coir... I'm doing 2 doubletubs of 1 pint of wbs mixed with 1.5 pints of coir, it's colonizing quick too. going to case them with peat/verm.
so if you're looking for something to spawn them to without using hpoo, use coir, it's nice!
and yes, you can spread your wbs on the corn substrate, but the more casings you have, the less you have to worry about your entire grow going sour... I've got 2 casings and 4 monotubs going at the moment, and they're all doing great, but i was lucky :p

Not IME. Contams every time.

... I've got 2 going right now, and they're felching out primordia everwhere... But then again: 1) i've never had a problem with contams and 2) i'm totally awesome and 3) the contams usually take over after the 1st or 2nd flushes with straight wbs.
And just so you don't think I'm completely retarded, FF: I've started spawning my wbs to coir (until my poo gets here, and it better be quick about it... it's been almost 3 weeks since i ordered it)
ps. fastfred, I love you... you're my idol... you're the most perfect arrogant asshole i've ever met... seriously, I love you in every way! And i meant the above part as a compliment... and extreme compliment if you will, i aspire to be you :P you can pwn a noob like quicksand pwns pygmies. even if you're wrong, you don't give a fuck!
i love you.
and i love everyone else here... except the dimebag drug dealing losers trying to make a quick buck, those assholes are so cheap they can't even afford to spell full words.
anyways, i'm drunk and going to poop my pants later

> the contams usually take over after the 1st or 2nd flushes with straight wbs.
That's pretty much what I mean. IME you can do everything in a flowhood and even have a hepa filtered FC and by flush 2 or 3 you end up with contams. Usually the dreaded green.
Sure it colonizes quick, but I demand three good flushes. Rye does that reliably, but WBS with the same setup won't. So it ends up yielding less and you end up with your FC full of nasty green spores that will continue to cause problems for you.
> you're the most perfect arrogant asshole i've ever met...
Thank you. I DO take that as a compliment. This isn't myspace, I'm not here to try and have more friends than anyone else. People post wanting straight answers and I give them. I don't give a rat's ass if my views are unpopular or others get butthurt by them.
And you're right, I don't even care all that much if I'm right or wrong. Everything I say is true from my experience or understanding. If I'm wrong about something that's for other people to decide for themselves. And if I'm wrong I love to be proven wrong, because it allows me to become a more perfect "arrogant asshole" in the end.
> and i love everyone else here... except the dimebag drug dealing losers
You made me think of one of my favorite lines... "Sure I can get you a dimebag... But it'll cost you twenty!"

Thanks for the input folks. I'll prolly just get what I can out of the WBS and then 86 early. I know what you're saying about it contaminating frequently, the only 3 jars/cakes I've ever had go bad were WBS or WBS+BRF+verm. Guess I'll stick to corn n rye from now on. All advice much apreciated!
Peace
