Take off your glasses and see.
    #5851689 - 07/12/06 06:16 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

There's a book called that... I haven't read it though but some surfing today made me decide to discontinue glasses use.

i remember when I was little and I'd get a pair it owuld just completely skew my perception of reality like some sort of visual trip for a while.

I've always felt viewing without glasses is so much more conducive to aesthetic purposes, given the use of peripheral vision, when peripheral visoin is ignored and shut down by staring through a small circle (or shape) and everything that's not in it is blurry.

you know what.

everything looks fine. trees look fine. the landscape looks fine...... it's only a small portion of my vision (nearsighted) that is prblematic.

but I figure, if I look at a word, and it's blurry, but I still know what it says, my mind will eventually decipher the patterns and the eyes will adjust so that the words match my mental image of what words are supposed to look like.

and already writing this i'm noticing a difference..... things are hard to see but i'm making up for it in other ways, learning to see a little different.

an optomitrest stated that glasses destroy your vision by making your eyes progressively more and more lazy, are simply a mask for a problem, not a solution for it.

http://www.i-see.org/eyeglasses_harmful/

i didn't read much of it, especially since i had already taken my glasses off....

but you know..... it's not a bad idea. especially if you believe in metaphysical things.

I enjoy taking my glasses off when at home if I have nothing to do/read.  I've also gotten into this recent thing of not wearing my glasses some/all of the time during a trip.  I must say, even though in this way of life, glasses are necessary for me, in another life, I probably wouldn't wear them.  Then again, my defect most likely would've lead to my death...nature weeding out the weakest

I had a friend who hated wearing his glasses, and so he never wore them, and after time he could read, etc without them

Then again, I new a girl who after wearing her glasses for a few years, was gettin better and better vision and thus her glasses kept changing to match her ever better sight. Same happened with my dad and step-dad

I enjoy wearing my glasses. Let's me see! Nothing is blurry. Without them, so much is blurry..... I cant see things that are far away, so i dont know but i think its a good idea to wear them. If your eyes cant see something and tries to read it even if its blurry, your eyes get stressed and worsen. So I dunno maybe its the power of your mind making it better but i dont think its scientifically right.

did you read some of that book i gave you?

technically i can read, it just looks worse for now.

i think i upped the font size slightly though.

without any stress how do the eyes ever get strong? they are constantly given what they want without working for it.

i dunno.

i would probably use them for reading if they don't improve on their own but i don't really need them for walking around and doing other things, perhaps for driving i would.

I use glasses, but I only get the prescription changed every 5 or 10 years.

any more than that would be 'feeding the beast'.

used contacts for awhile but they were such a pain in the ass

much easier to throw on the glasses right out of bed.

besides, now I have lenses that tint in the sun

and the ladies think its all sexy like, ya know

As much as I don't like glasses, I pretty much have to wear them. Contacts are a pain in the ass to put in, and my vision is like 20/200 with my glasses off.

Oh well, I could be blind.

My eyes are screwed up. 5 years ago I could see pretty well, but my vision gets worse every year. I can't read anything past 3 feet away from me.

I can't get contacts, one of my eyes is worse than the other one and I've got a funky prescription.

I can't make up any letters on the screen without my glasess, too blurry, i'd need font size 30 or so to decipher anything :frown:
Plus I can't even recognize people without them.

I think contacts really are the best option.

Everyone I know who uses them says that at first they are a giant hassle, but then after a few weeks they become a habbit and are easy to put in and comfortable. It seems to me that they are far better than glasses.

Personally I have good vision

Strange. People I know really do like them.

Oh well, I have no experience so I'm sure you know better than me.

What about laser eye surgery? I know nothing about it.

i have a genetic eye problem that would probably make laser surgery difficult.

i seem to be "transmuting it" because its energy has spread into the rest of my body and is really evident when i do yoga or tai chi.... though.

I knew a fellow who had coke-bottle glasses, had trouble reading fingers if you held them up, but whenever he dosed lsd, he could see clear as a bell.

I had a friend in college who recommended that I read that book. But I went ahead and got Lasik surgery, so I guess I'll never know if it works.
