im about to transplant some MJ plants out of small pots into the ground and would appreciate some tips to minimize damage to the root systems...

also a question i had is should the soil be dried out before taken out of the pot?? so that most of the dirt comes out together?

The best way is to try to get it to pop out of the pot in one chunk.

Remove the excess soil on the surface. Then turn the pot upside down but hold the base of the stem area. Tap the bottom of the pot with a small shovel or other object.

If you're lucky, the root ball should pop right out, ready to go.
However, if you can't get it out by tapping the bottom, find a large spoon or hand-held shovel. Scoop down along the sides of the pot. Then gracefully spoon out the rootball from underneath.

You'll get the hang of it. Just remeber once you extract the rootball, work quickly to get it in the ground and away from the open air. The plants might be a little shocked for a day but will bounce back.

also make sure the soil isnt wet or bone dry when you do this. to wet it will fall apart and is to heavy to carry long distances. to dry and it wont absorb much moisture once transplanted in to the soil due to medium differences. you want them just in the middle.
