honeywater to boost stalled jars?

Would anybody recommend shooting up some honeywater into a jar with stalled mycelial colonization to encourage growth?

I would not. They probably did not stall because they are out of nutrients, it's more likely from contamination or environmental problems, like lack of fresh air, low temps, etc. I have never attempted to resurrect a stalled jar. Maybe diluted h202 injection?
confirmation anyone?

jar is free of contam, and is being incubated at 83 degrees.. other jars are kicking ass.. just two or three that I'd like to give a little kick.. If the jar's on the dry side, i figured rehydrating and going the step further (with honey water) could do the trick

Sounds like a good way to cause contams. Jar is probably contaminated anyways if it's stalled. Just because you can't see a big nasty contam doesn't mean that you don't have a bacterial problem.
Throw them out.

agreed. bacterial contam is a common yet often overlooked (because you cant necessarily see it) cause of jars stalling. if they're stalled and you want to play around go for it, you got nothing to lose at this point right?
i give stalled jars the garbage can tek. doesn't matter to me if they're contam'd or not, if they're taking much longer than others that were treated in a similar way there's either something wrong, or poor genetics, and they don't meet my stringent quality standards. why waste time/space in your FC with such a thing when you can empty the jars now and start something good in them?

My position on this is ...if you're sure it's stalled, what do you have to lose? But I wouldn't bother with the honey part. Like tallgreen mentioned, the problem is not nutrients.
So if you suspect it's a lack of moisture, I'd suggest filling a syringe with water, wrapping it in aluminum foil, putting it into a PC with the plunger facing down. If you position the syringe plunger side up the pressure from the water will squirt the liquid out. PC it for 60 minutes (which I will readily admit is probably huge overkill).
Allow it to cool for a few hours and then -- using the same technique and sterility you used to knock up the jars in the first place -- inject a few CCs of water.
I'd also isolate those jars because, like fastfred said, you may very well have a contam on your hands. No point risking the other jars. And understand that you're going to go through a lot of effort and the jars will likely either remain stalled or reveal a contam (either existing or introduced by the injection of water).
But if you're bored, go nuts. =)

So, a couple of weeks back My cousin Vinny had inspired this post. He got mixed reviews. Some people suggested that he chuck the jars altogether, while others thought he had nothing to lose, therefore could try anything to gain..
The incubation set-up: 8 BRF jars in a shoe box. Shoe box resting across the top of an empty aquarium (FC as of a week ago). Heating pad resting inside the aquarium, on the bottom and about a foot under the shoe-box. The whole set-up covered with a towell to keep some of the heat in. Worked pretty nicely, kept the temps at around 85.
The Problem Jars: 2 BRF jars were stalled. One showed some strong initial growth at two of the four inoculation sites, then slowed and stopped for a couple of days. The other had one very faint cloudy spot of myc completely stalled for a couple of days (the other three innoc spots failed to produce any).
Basically, My cousin vinny just isolated the two problem jars, wrapped them up in a nice fluffy towell, and stuck them inside the aquarium, right next to the heating pad.. It took them about three days, and then they resumed colonizing.
Though about two weeks behind the rest of the jars (baby cappies were spotted on those this morning) the two problem jars are just about complete. Crazy to think that a sole nickle-sized transparent puff of myc could take over the world like that..
Sorry about the little rant.. Just wanted to reaffirm something that My Cousin Vinny learned from this whole thing. In mycology, you gotta be patient, you gotta be persistent, and you gotta love cambos.
