2006 FIFA World Cup (ps2)
    #5850231 - 07/12/06 09:25 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

Holy fuck I love this game. I picked it up the other day and have been playig it since. The whole game recreates the circus that just transpired in Germany. The gameplay is sweet and high realistic. The shoot outs are just as dramatic in real life. The crowds..they're HUGE, they chant and sing and wear their colors just like the real thing. I lost the first game I played though in a quickmatch of Germany vs. England though.. 1 to nil for ENG, I was GER. They scored in the 45th minute and I thew my controller against the wall in digust of the officiating.

I think I'm going to play in World Cup mode and bring France to the top. Zidane is King.

Soccer is the shit, I tell you. Why this sport doesn't fly out here is a mystery

My sister's roommate was playing that when I was in D.C. and it looked damn good...I even liked the announcers and I hate sports videogame announcers.

The graphics on player detail are pretty nice too, as if they merged real life images into the game. Definately the pinnacle of soccer videogaming, although I heard Fifa 06 is more sim-oriented than Fifa World Cup.

It's a very fun sport. Especially the passing. I can amuse myself all day with the sweet style of passing in soccer. Who invented the game anyway, was it the English?

When did it start spreading through out the world as the global sport?

Ah, interesting. So it was kind of always a global sport, from Mexico to Asia. Just a question though.. why is scoring so low in soccer? Hockey is built around a similar concept, and they have a much smaller goal and some hockey games go into 6-6 ties after only 45 minutes or so. Is it because in soccer they have twice as many fowards and defenders? I actually like that scoring is very low, it puts alot of value on a goal when it does come. And the penalty shots are extremely dramatic too.

WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE AI IN THIS GAME?!

This is fucking STUPID!

Twice in one match my goalie caught the ball, then dropped it for no fucking reason right into the path of someone on the other team, who scored.

Now twice in this match, my goalie has been WAY outside the fucking penalty box, and the other team have just had to gently float one into the net! STAY ON THE FUCKING LINE YOU WANKER!

Seriously. This AI is pathetic.

I recommend the ps2 version, it got rave reviews compared to the PC one. I read the one for the Xbox 360 also sucks

I like the loading screens before each match, they have like random facts about countries. I learned today that Latvia has the highest female ratio in the world and Liecthenstein has the smallest population of people at only 30,000

Not bad. The U.S. invented baseball and American football. Canada invented hockey, basketball, and curling. It seems English speaking cultures have mastered the art of athletic competition.

They should host the World Cup every year, like the Stanley Cup or Super Bowl. Instead of having all the top players return to small national leagues, they should have consistent qualification rounds (kind of like a regular season) on an international scale that ends off with the World Cup being rewarded every year. The division 1 leagues etc can simply be used to farm players for national teams. It would be the ultimate of any sports league in the world.

No way. It takes years alone for the qualifying stages. Then there's the European championships, domestic leagues, FA etc etc. It's just not possible.

I wonder if he expected all the razzle dazzle there is with the game today, considering he first used peach baskets and players wouldn't do jump shots, they would do granny throws between the legs with both hands.
