Which method has higher yields?

While researching here at the shroomery I have discovered two ideas I would like to employee.
-One is the Sea of Shroom method.
-The other is just casing a PF tek, brown rice cake.
*My question is: is there anyone out there that has tried both methods and can tell me which has higher yields?*

The "sea of shroom" method actually has a bit of poorly informed advice in it (like the suggestion to scratch your casing). It also seems really tedious and kind of silly to me. Bragging about a 45 wet gram harvest is also kind of silly, considering you can get that from a single cake without the extra steps.
That being said, there's no tek that yields better than any other. You could do "bulk" that involves 1lb of poo and compare it to 50 pf jars... which do you think is going to yield more?
In general however, casing yields better than cakes, given equal amounts of substrate. You certainly can start with PF tek cakes, crumble them, and case them, which is a great way to get your feet wet and will give some reasonable yields. Just some advice though, don't focus on yields at all. Focus on just getting something, because if you screw up along the way you may just yield 0. Once you've run through things a few times experience will quickly guide you towards increased yields. As few as a 2-3 cakes without even casing them will get you enough mushrooms to have a fantastic experience with a few friends.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have cakes incubating right now and I have two terrariums. I think I am going to birth most off my cakes as they are, but I would like to practice some casing techniques. I guess I'll do two cakes like that so I can get my feet wet. Thanks again. Later.

cakes are good to start with. you'll get the idea of things.
case your cakes by rolling them in casing and adding casing to both ends.
next you can crumble your cakes into a container and apply a casing layer of those.
look into monotubs and doubletubs.
they are very easy to do with very little maintanence. they are an easy and very good introduction to bulk. wronguy has a great pictoral in his signiture. you can apply that to a monotub as well.
