Please Help to Identify Mushroom!!!
    #5847959 - 07/11/06 06:13 PM (17 years, 7 months ago)

These mushrooms I found in my yard, growing near a rose bush. There is also mulch where it grew from. The outer gills are a Redish brownish and a little bit orangish color but it gets closer to the center of the inside of the mushroom, it is white. The stem's color is brown and red (near the top)and white at the bottom. The stem's length is 4 inches and it is thin. The cap's texture is a little bumpy and the cap has waves to it. The nipple part is brown. The color of the cap is white but there are little specks of brown all around it. It bruises a redish color when squeezed and the inside of the stem is the same color. It really doesnt have a scent, but its a mushroom I have never seen before. I live in Texas, so the weather is nice for mushrooms to sprout in ppl's yards. And I can tell that it is mature because it has a little ring around the stem near the top. Can anyone help with this? Is it a magic mushroom? It would also help if somebody can give me a website where i can see pics of shrooms and descriptions to help me identify. Thanx!

Lepiota and possibly poisonous.

Or could be Chlorophyllum molybdites, there have been a lot of requests for these lately...

If the spore print is white, it is Lepiota, if the print is green, it is C. molybdites.

actualy it looks more like lepiota, but molybdites is another possibility. Either way its potentialy poisonous and shouldnt be ingested under any circumstances.

heres a good site to start with
