Tripping Out of a Musical Slump
    #5849010 - 07/11/06 10:22 PM (17 years, 6 months ago)

I haven't tripped in nearly a decade due to family responsibilities I am taking seriously. I have played guitar mediocre since I was an early teen, with breakthroughs occasionally. I remember as a teenager tripping balls on acid, home alone, at the family piano. I had no real love for that instrument, but I was inspired to sit down at it and see what developed. I recorded my session on tape so I could check it out later when I came down. I had no experience on the piano besides chopsticks and scales. The result was a wonderful piece of work that was beautiful and fluid. I tried to recreate what I recorded with only minimal results, but some of it stuck and I no longer considered myself a beginner. I am in a creative lull because I am struggling with guitar theory I am just recently comprehending, my playing is not improving and I am spending more time with my instrument. I am a 35 year old male, blue collar, married with children. I have had spiritual experiences while high and sober including, astral travel, esp awareness, remote viewing, communication with the animal and plant worlds, lucid dreaming beyond the thresholds of human imagination, to name a few. I aspire to open the floodgates of personal expression musically for personal enjoyment and a public offering. I am not interested in drug use as rebellion against authority and I don't want to associate with those who are for that purpose. My desire is of a clinical nature to explore the musical possibility. I do not want to uproot myself from the reality I am currently experiencing altogether. I need to stay myself for my family's sake. What can anyone tell me from experience, good, bad, indifferent?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking....but generally nothing can give you that love and complete rush for music other than music itself. so if you want to eat some cubes or something just to "get back in the game," I'd pick another reason to be tripping. it's going to be there, or it's not. hearing certain new/old music may kind of rejuvenate your it all, but like I said, it's generally either there or it's not. ingesting some psychedelic or other drug(s) won't turn you into a great musician or make you love music etc, not if you weren't prior to ingestion.
