Puerto Rican's in Cold Temps???!?!
    #584738 - 03/20/02 10:58 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

Was just wondering if my puerto ricans will survive in 65?'s and with a pf-tek substrate(brf/verm) If so, any avg. length of time for it to colonize/pin/etc.etc.etc
Any help will be greatly noted.
Thanks for the help in advance.

You should colonize your jars in the 80's..... I do 84 degrees.
Build an incubator if you have to.

You should fruit your cakes in the mid 70's.... I do 73 degrees.

From what I've observed, puertos are not too fond of the colder temps. They don't like the lower seventies. Once they pin, they develop very slowly compared to other cubes, but after harvesting, they pin like mad a few days later. They seem to like the higher temps for fruiting, typically around 78-80 degrees F.
