Somewhere Upon Earth
    #5846003 - 07/11/06 07:35 AM (17 years, 6 months ago)

"There should be somewhere upon Earth, a place that no nation could claim as its sole property, a place where all human beings of good will, sincere in their aspiration, could live freely as citizens of the world, obeying one single authority, that of supreme Truth.

A place of peace, concord, harmony, where all the fighting instincts of man would be used exclusively to conquer the causes of his suffering and misery, to surmount his weakness and ignorance, to triumph over his limitations and incapacities.

A place where the needs of the spirit and the care for progress would get precedence over the satisfaction of desires and passions, the seeking of pleasures and material enjoyments."

The Mother, Aug 1954

I thank the author of this site, (which I came across randomly) for making me aware of this quote.

"The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes."
- Marcel Proust

I wish you all ceaselessly flowing moments of happiness.

I'm all for clubbing together and buying an island under which this dream could attempt to blossom.

I'm no cynic but even as a society of shroomerites could it be governed in the fashion which was/is intended? Unhappily, im dubious...

Still I think it makes sense to aim for an ideal. "Shoot for the stars, land on the moon" kind of thing.

Not true.
Not if everybody sees everyone as equal, as it should be because no one decent person is above another.

Ive been in groups without a leader, they worked just fine.

Pipe dream :stoned:

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Yeah, most likely.

I can't think of an example where it's been tried, even when we were apes there was still always a leader.
It's not just human nature but nature generally.

I'd like to think it could happen though, and be successful !
